So finally a new module, the Doepfer Vactrol Low-Pass Gate.
Given that its been a year since Modular was announced, and the fact that the LPG was part of that announcement (https://www.softube.com/?id=news150), Im a little disconcerted by the glacial pace on this. I'd kind of been expecting a new module every month or two. Its not going to be a 'V2 announced, upgrade to get ten more modules' thing is it ?

Personally, I've kind of given up any hope that there's going to be any significant number of new modules available for this product in any reasonable time period.whyterabbyt wrote:So finally a new module, the Doepfer Vactrol Low-Pass Gate.

And considering they divulged that this is their best selling product youd think they would throw more development love at it

I know. Totally boggles my mind. And it's my 4th best selling library behind only Serum, Falcon and Omnishpere.VariKusBrainZ wrote:And considering they divulged that this is their best selling product youd think they would throw more development love at it
The snails pace of development of this thing leaves me befuddled and bewildered.

Okay, I'm curious. How did you see this coming? First hand intimate knowledge of the company? Something else?zerocrossing wrote:I hate to say it, but I saw this coming.whyterabbyt wrote:So finally a new module, the Doepfer Vactrol Low-Pass Gate.

Because when I see anybody release a synth, unless it's U-he, I have no idea if that synth is going to be a hit or miss, get support, or whatever. So how did you see this coming?

I don't understand why people are complaining about the pace of the modules.
Perhaps from a "plugin collector" perspective , but not from a musician/music angle.
Especially when you listen to the results of what people made with it in the dedicated thread.
I think it's a pretty nice and complete system and an amazing tool for people that actually produce music with it.

If you want new modules done to the same quality they will take ages to code. We got loads of modules already.

I don´t think that development is being so slow. They can take their time in my opinion, I am still just scratching the surface with Modular. I would like to see a patch browser and some cpu optimization, if possible, before anything else. I´m pretty confident that modular is just beginning its journey.

I would be happy if they would just release a more fully specified sequencer. That would open up a ton of possibilities. Something like the A-154/A-155 combo would be incredibly helpful.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Really? I thought it would have been pretty obvious; because one new module in a time period of a year doesn't make me feel like there's much module development going on at all, and that ultimately there's not really going to be that wide a range of additional modules available. And having a wide range of modules available is kind of Eurorack's 'thing'.christian f. wrote:I don't understand why people are complaining about the pace of the modules.
Plus, one module a year doesnt really live up to the promise of 'more modules will continuously be made available' that Softube sold this on.
Yeah, the advantage of cloning something as wide-ranging, flexible, and uniquely customisable as a Eurorack setup is that we all get stuck with the exact same 20 modules as everyone else, and that having more modules to custom-tailor our own unique setup from would somehow be detrimental - because 'musician'; that makes so much sense.Perhaps from a "plugin collector" perspective , but not from a musician/music angle.
Well they could manage 23 or 24 modules when it shipped, but have only added one new module in a year, so which of the two options do you think is more likely... (A) that they can only do one module a year and it took 24 years to develop, or (B) they're producing modules a lot more slowly than they can.Jax Pok wrote:If you want new modules done to the same quality they will take ages to code. 2nd that it's a beast of a system that has a lot of possibilities from the get go,christian f. wrote:I don't understand why people are complaining about the pace of the modules.

the internal vca distortion is ffing awesome, oscillators sound excellent,
filters are ffing brilliant and having as many as you like of anything available is pure heaven
Only downside is now I really need a intel7700k
