Anyway, I always wanted to go back to my roots and do some melancholic spacey minimal oldschool electronica stuff like this, almost as if I were sitting in front of my old Fostex 160 late at night with crappy analogish gear, headphones on, and a head full of dreams.
Awwww, that brings back memories to read "Fostex". I used to have a 280, 8 track tape recorder. My late teens belonged to this thing, hehehe. :phones:

Nice track, by the way! Very, very calming and inspiring. Right there with you... :borg:

Taron -- I think the Eurythmics first record was recorded on a Fostex 280. Loved that thing!

Post

No way?! Really? I had no idea, haha...almost can't quite imagine, assuming Eurythmics were a wee bit older than that, but well...cool idea for sure! :D Thanks! ;)

Post

Sorry -- I think it was actually the Model 80 1/4" reel to reel, not the cassette 8 track.

Post

Yeah, that makes more sense! :) ...I think, the 280 was new in the early 90's. I was over the moon when I bought it. :hyper:

Good stuff! This reminds me a lot of the second side of Bowie's "Low." Lots of clear Eno influences.

Guys! Can we have a delete button for our own posts in case we hit "quote" by mistake? :x

Yeah, you're right about that! I met Brian when he was well into his tape delay stuff, and also running tape past two machines' tape heads (and back round again of course in a loop!). Interesting man indeed, and had lots of ideas about how the mind creates "soundscapes" out of apparent chaos/dissonance, by picking out stuff which "rings true" to your interpretation of harmony, and you start to hear interesting things. Not everyone's cup of tea, so to speak, but interesting nevertheless. He had a lot of examples to play as well as demos of the tape things.

I wanted to do something that would have me singing it all night.

The synth is dead obvious by the title, which I thought was really clever. I put on my composition hat for this one and left everything else home. Not into the whole "let's make this sound like an EDM record" scene and done trying to be something I'm not.

Edit: Probably should point out that it didn't really help much
Hmmm. It's a possibility then..

I do like the idea of a One hardware synth though.. Just got a Mother-32 and I love it! :)
Analogue and digital alike - inside and outside the box. All good music is done with passion and love, not religious convictions!

Don't know if this has been asked and the rules pretty much cover it but I'll ask anyway.

Could I use a hardware synth? Got the Korg Monologue as a present recently and am curious to see how much I could pull out of it. If not I'll go with NI Razor, or Spark.

Definitely looking forward to this one, but certainly wish I had the dough to get fab-filter right now.

Cheers all!
Disco flangus shenanigans
