The natives would have me killed if I didn't add the Wedding Present, the (poor man's Blur) Kaiser Chiefs, Corrine Bailey-Rae, Utah Saints and Chumbawamba.

I just googled Peter Gabriel, because I was pretty sure he wasn't a Londoner, and I'm right. According to Wikipedia, he was born in Chobham, Surrey, and he started Genesis with his fellows in Charterhouse School. So, definitely not a Londoner.

Manchester, UK

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_m ... Manchester

I know this is sorta cheating but there's too many to write down.

Also some are technically from Salford but it's only a few miles down the road.

Also included is The Verve (Wigan)

Mr. Scruff (Stockport)

etc.

Let the purists chime in and say who's Manc and who ain't. It's all good.

It's a big list and uses the qualifier of Greater Manchester which encompasses all the satellite towns around it which is roughly a 12 mile radius from the city centre.
Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).
