I can confirm they are quite awesome. For writing or sketching out song ideas, they provide a huge speed-boost and there are already some great videos out there to help get you started. I just watched this one yesterday and I'd highly recomend taking a look at it to see how simple the tools are to use.

thanks! yeh, that's the one I saw. Superb. If there was a wish, I'd wish for the addition of more random/generative functions for some good experimentation. But I realize that's it's own rabbit hole.

The composition stuff seems like the most significant addition. What other changes might be worth it to upgrade for IYO?

Post

is there some/any way to connect the devices with one click then create common controls to them etc. as is in Bitwig

Image

seems a bit slow to do anything in it (5+ clicks) ... but just playing with the demo

Hi

Any thoughts on the 'BioTek' synth - it is bundled in one of the packages at a pretty good price.

I can't demo it as my DAW is still boxed up as I refurb my home!

So, how is stability of Waveform in OSX Sierra?

Last year I demoed T5 and was so enthusiastic about it I turned right around and purchased T7....only to suffer 'poof' crashes frequently that I gave up on it. I didn't seem to be alone in that experience either. Got tired of investing time developing ideas only to have my work blow up on me....which is too bad cause I loved the concept and workflow.

Love to hear if T7 ever became stable and/or if it's safe to upgrade to Waveform?

I imagine a lot of producers will find Collective to be a very nice synth and a robust one at that. Its especially large considering its included in a DAW that runs under a $100. I'm usually more of the rock/songwriter type myself, but Id guess any hip hop/electronica/film/ambient producers out there would quite happy with it. Being able to undock the mixer, midi editor, and settings windows is a huge plus for those of us with more than one monitor. You have several themes to choose from instead of only being able to use one like in Tracktion 7. Those used to a typical non-linear DAW workflow will like having the option to work with a proper horizontal mixer. The overall look and aesthetic of Waveform is elegant and quite striking, especially when viewed on a large monitor. The composition tools of course for me are the deal breaker as I appreciate anything that can boost my creativity or get me out of a creative funk. In terms of value, I'd consider Waveform a no-brainer for anyone who has an upgrade path.

T7 never became stable for me on OSX... but then there might be a couple updates I missed, but I got tired of the crashes and gave up.

Hi,

Do both Collective and MasterMix come with a Waveform upgrade from T7, and are they the full versions?

Thanks in advance,
G

Yes to the first part. I believe that MasterMix is a built-in version, so fully functional, but not a separate plug-in, while Collective is a plug-in, and usable in other DAWs.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

I can confirm this, T7 was so buggy on OSX I dutch it for Reaper. After several trails, Waveform is on the same way, the same poof crashes that T7, poor UI performances...

don't want hijack this topic or promote a different product here, so just a remark> RapidComposer "7th Anniversary Sale (30% discount) until 23 April!" http://www.musicdevelopments.com/index.html

Not five or more whole clicks? Jeez, that could take days! On the other hand, there might be dozens of ways to connect them up.

Well Jabe in all fairness Bitwig 2.0 was supposed to be a very Modular DAW and it ended up not being that . So I sense a little fustration in the complaint of 5 or more clicks , I'm not so sure if Bitwig can do what Waveform or even Tracktion did in the Modular Racks environment , I'm sure I'll be corrected or put in place here in a minute .... :?
