Oh! Of course. I was reading it as something that hadn't worked rather than shouldn't have happened. ThanksAJYoung wrote: That was a fix for the problem in this post:

Synthmaster One?

Thanks for this great instrument! When I first heard bout it, I thought this is a "light" version of the already existing SM2,
but had to admit it's a completely different synth and the factory presets are great!

I'm really enjoying SM One so far
.
But I got a problem now, I downloaded a lot of the free Cymatics Wavetables packs for Serum, they load perfectly but it looks like SM One keeps all the wavetables in RAM (even the ones that are not currently used) because now, every instance uses about 800 mb of RAM, and that is a big problem.
Is there a solution for this?

it shouldn't be 800 MB though. and yes I am going to fix that hopefuly next month I had to fix it anyways since we're gonna release the iPad version soon.J.Ruegg wrote:I'm really enjoying SM One so far.

I love this synth so far. Really great sound and ease of use. I'm not a big sound designer, so usually the simpler the interface the better for me, maybe with a hidden matrix when needed. The sound stands out and seems bright and detailed, but not thin. I made a quick beat and some parts made of only synthmaster one and loved the results. The filters sound great too.

Love the synth but I have one serious problem with it.
Have you noticed what happens to the volume when you crank up the unison? I almost blew my ears out. Never seen this on any synth. Not even Synthmaster 2x. I don't know if this is a bug or the way it's designed. But just a warning to anybody using it. Use a limiter and if you're going to crank up the voices, lower the volume first.

If you don't have SM2's oscillators set to free running and crank up the voices on an oscillator without detuning them, the same thing happens (I just tested it, and the increase in volume is exactly the same if the number of voices and initial volume matches). Just one of the quirks of the synths, I guess. It may be more noticeable on SM One since you can set the number of voices higher.

Seems like a valid FR would be for a global setting for automatic volume compensation - volume adjusted inversely to the number of voices set for unison. I can't think of a situation I'd ever want this not enabled. The Synthmaster family is not the only one that would benefit from something like this, IMO.

Yeah, that would be nice...I've blasted my ears a couple times with SM2's unison. You'd have to somehow take into account that detuning the oscillators makes them quite a bit quieter (but still louder than with no unison enabled).
edit: Although if I had to guess it's probably not going to happen because it would mess up existing presets

Correct. If all waveforms start at the same phase, then you'd have a real high volume. Click on "Free" button so they start at "random" phases.Greenstorm33 wrote:If you don't have SM2's oscillators set to free running and crank up the voices on an oscillator without detuning them, the same thing happens (I just tested it, and the increase in volume is exactly the same if the number of voices and initial volume matches). Hi, I recently picked up the bundle and have to say it's a big win! Wonderful sound and seemingly endless possibilities with both. Being new to Synthmaster, there are some implementations in both One and 2.8 that have me a little confused. Not sure if they are bugs or if I am just missing something:
1) The Arp: The record function is great, but it seems to get in the way of normal on/off toggling. Passing through "record" to get to "off" causes any playback midi to record over the existing sequence. It also defaults back to sequencer mode if you are in another mode. In sequencer mode, only descending midi note input transitions smoothly. To ascend, you need to either release the lower note completely before playing a higher one, resulting in some choppy transitions, or hold the higher note and use the release of the lower note to trigger the higher note smoothly.
2) Pitch keytracking in Synthmaster One, if set to zero, nulls out osc tuning, so you are stuck with one pitch. 2.8 has the note base control, but not seeing it in One.
3) The SLFO in 2.8 doesn't seem to retrigger faithfully. I am having to release the note and wait a bit before hitting the next to get the retrigger to happen.
Just hoping to get a little insight here. Sorry if it has been covered before, but I didn't find anything. Thanks!
Mike
