I hear ya, egbert101- but it's really fun having a 'swiss army knife' oscillator section where you can have (2) independent oscillators running in totally different modes - and then 'morph' between them!egbert101 wrote:I really like the transform oscillator (and the waveguide oscillator). If they were done in a dedicated synthesizer, I might be interested. Otherwise, I could do something similar in Harmor, if I could be bothered to learn to use the bloody thing properly!
Again, from the manual:
'The Morph fader records all continuously variable parameters, i.e. knobs and faders. This includes the modulation depths defined in the mod matrix, as well as its knob settings and the random function (dice symbol). The tuning parameters of the oscillators, clock divider settings of the master clock and sequencer tracks as well as the sequencers‘ global swing will also be recorded. Switching functions or parameter values that are selected via a pop-up menu (e.g. Time-parameter of the Groove Delay) will not be recorded by the Morph fader.'
- So it won't record & play back 'menu selection' differences that exist between A & B - but a whole lot of other stuff, it will!

I'm going to have a blast with this thing - and really, guys: for the money they're asking for it right now it's a steal (but that's just one man's opinion! - Please don't let it have *too* much of an influence on you! Lol!)
Definitely not a 'me too!' synth, and I believe that it's currently at the top of Sugar Byte's food chain.
There's not as many granular synths on the market as say: analog emulations (100 different flavors, right?) So I'm personally always looking for/at synths that have that capability. Factory's got that!
I do agree with our good friend Wags, though - wavetable import would be a huge plus! I guess that you can import your own, but the WT creation methodology sounds convoluted (or well thought out from Sugar Bytes's perspective - I think that they are going after aliasing in a big way - that I applaud!) - but again: SB did say that they would support a dev that wanted to build a WT import app -

- maybe because it's relatively new (Factory was released early in June of 2016) - it also may be relevant that Factory is SB's single most expensive product to date -Fleer wrote:I believe this is the first time SB included Factory in their regular sale.

Wow, Fleer - this is my first time looking at Obscurium - I'm impressed! I think with Obscurium, SB's goal is actually to do the opposite of what their app's name implies: - to provide the user more transparent control over the Generative music process - which in it's purest form is parameterized chaos.Fleer wrote:I'm actually considering Obscurium as well, but probably should wait until it launches on iOS as it seems ideal for tablets.
Agreed, Fleer - Obscurium would be a prime candidate for iOS porting.

Lol! It's *all* GAS, thecontrolcentre!thecontrolcentre wrote:I have Obscurium, and I'm really tempted by Factory at the current sale price. Maybe its just GAS.
Part of the reason why I bought Factory - in addition to the obvious current deal - is because Sugar Bytes overall has their own unique way of doing things - well-reflected in Factory.

Even between in Kore 2 as I can morph between 8 variations, not just 2 (and the way it's designed to morph makes this work smoothly).egbert101 wrote:True. Don't like the ratings system - you have to resave the patch just to add ratings, but tbh most of the patches are not very good anyway.

Hmmm...not my experience. In the browser view if I rate a patch in the lower left corner it works fine without saving....
