More good news. :hyper:
Yeah... it's almost done, but then we'll give it a month or two for preset designers.
Not so good for my bank account though.
... unless you own a Repro-1 license already :clown:

That means RePro-1 owners will have a discount or upgrade price for RePro-5? :D
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Wow! Is it that painful? :hihi:

I believe RePro-5 won't affect Diva, because Diva has much more polyphony and still has more possibilities and flexibility. Anyway, I'm glad to have Diva as well :)

On the other hand, I think that Legend with 8 polyphony would be very welcomed. I was running 11 instances of the Legend and my CPU didn't pass 30% :) So, I think a poly 8 would be ok, CPU usage wise. I wonder if Synapse Audio would make OB SEM emulation but also with 4 or more polyphony

I wasn't impressed by Oddity 2.....ArpOdyssei (yes, the iOS version) is awesome. It also has 8 voice and a really fat unison sound if you like and a usable GUI.
Sadly the only way to get a "limited" version of this as desktop plug-in is via Gadget....and that only for mac.

Nice to know it's so far along. Looking forward to it.

Out of curiosity, how different is the Rev 2 from the Rev 3? I know it uses different chips for the oscs, but is a different filter too? From a development perspectie, is there anything inherently more difficult in modeling it compared to a Pro-One/Rev 3, or is it just a matter of not being able to leverage the RePro-1 oscs and filters?

SJ_Digriz wrote:Funny you should say that. I'm curious about the Oscillators. None of the VSTi oscillators sound "correct". They all lack the buzz/grit/depth of the original. In fact I was actually quite surprised at just how far off they were. Do you know where that extra depth is coming from. Is it the VCA or some other stage that is passively adding its little extra to the signal?

EDIT: it's also one of the main differences between a D and a Voyager. The Square never gets "that" sound, even when everything else is off and the Filter is wide open (including extra open from CV).

EDITEDIT: Sorry if this came across as a criticism ... that isn't the intention. I think what is being done with VSTi is amazing.
You mean oscillators in general or specifically in Model D emulations? If it is about the Model D, then which waveform shape (saw, reversed saw, pulse or triangle)? In case you hear something in analog hardware which is independent of waveform shape, then it is probably either related to tuning or simply noise (to me noise sometimes gives a sensation of depth, even more so when it is stereo noise).

A whole different chip set (VCOs, VCFs, ADSRs), made by SSM, which they replaced with Curtis Chips (CEM) in Rev 3. Apparently those older chips have had a lot more instabilities, envelopes are all over the place, and the filter seems to be more or less a classic OTA design, like 4 x CA3080 on a chip. So I suspect the sound will be closer to Roland's Juno series, a bit more mellow with less brutal in resonance.

Anyhow, as long as SSM Chips are hard to get I won't touch a Prophet 5 Rev 2. It seems like Coolaudio (aka Behringer...) is going to make a reissue, and this could change things for me.

Someone mentioned/hinted at it, but I don't see a quote from Urs directly. How much polyphony in Retro-5? 5 as in the original?
