Searching for sound effect (as heard on U96 - Das Boot)

I am looking for a certain fx/percussion sound as heard on U96 - Das Boot



also used here:



I found it in this sample pack (it's used in the beginning of the demo track) and found it in a percussion loop on Splice (from the same pack), but I would rather have it as an isolated sample or create it myself.

Hmm, both examples sound similar, but not the same.

I think this can be synthesized with sin/noise.

Those pings are submarine sonar sounds. You should be able to find samples.

As for an instrument to create the sound, could this be the thread where Bram's good old One Ping Only is actually a relevant answer!?
