Is FL studio xxl worth a buy because of all the plugins or sohuld I save money and get fl studio only?

And

Is Orion Pro buyable and can it compare to Reason?

THXS, this site is tight!

hehe, how are we supposed to answer?

following a theory i've read lately, the first reply to such a thread should be:

GET THE DEMOS AND TRY THEM FOR YOURSELF

and i think it's a good advice.

all 3 are certainly great programs with their strength and weakness. the only way to find out which one is made for you is to get your hands dirty on the demos.

as for the XXL or not question, as the proud half-Fanboy i am, i can only say: if you've got the cash and if you like FL Studio, go for it. you'll get an impressive bunch of very good plugins for the money.

Going back to orion pro from platinum is a very painful experience for me. I last did it when v5 came out to see what the differences were. Sooo many features are missing its almost a different app, I don't think I could use pro day to day having used platinum for so long.

However if you try the pro demo and don't download the platinum demo you'll be non the wiser ;)

it doesn't matter, you can go xxl anytime and it will compensate for what you already have...I have two Fl Producer but niether are xxl....I have sytrus on my copy....my son isn't ready for sytrus yet..

I'd have to say at least, try the demo..
I have FL Studio which I rarely use, and the Orion flavors which are my number two sequencers. I use the Platinum version, but I imagine you could get a lot done with the pro as well. Just a few synths and fx missing, which you might can make up for in vst.
really, try them and see what works best for you.

The only answer I can give you regarding this is since I purchased an Orion Platinum license I have not opened Reason once. They are both great studio hosts, but Orion caters to ease of use on a level that Reason is not capable of for me, at least..

Yeah i have already tried the demos and I think I am going to get xxl and save up for orion platium-have some extra money.

I still wanna get cubase sx but i guess that has to wait since i have to get a soundcard, mic, and mixer.

Thxs for the feedback!

Here's my 2 centavos: I've used all the ones you mention (FL, Orion, and Cubase) and if you don't have a lot of money, I'd recommend Traction. The only weakness I see in Tracktion is that they don't support DX and the MIDI editing isn't wonderful. But for the price, you will not be sorry. Tracktion is really, really easy to use (and you probably don't care about the DX or MIDI at this point). Tracktion just works and there is an active forum here that the creator of Traction monitors and responds to.

When you do have some money, I'd recommend Sonar 3. It does everything and is rock-solid stable. Assuming you have Windows XP and DirectX kernel drivers. And ultimately it doesn't matter what you use. You can make great music with just about any sequencer and there are people on this web site who have made something great with every sequencer ever created!

By contrast to Mr. verdigast's post, I started Digital Audio using Cubase VST/32 & just about nose-dived before I even had a chance to figure out what the hell was going on.

If I hadn't have moved to Orion, I probably wouldn't be here now...

Rich is gonna get some death threats over that one..

I moved from Cubase to Orion long ago and rarely ever start Cubase any more, because everything i need to do is so much easier and faster in Orion( Platinum ).
:D

So i only start Cubase SX when my friend visits me and we work on some of his projects together
( he doesn't have Oplat )

Hi Peter,

Why do you want to buy 3 hosts???
Maybe it's just me but wouldn't it be a better idea to get one host, get to know it really well and spend the rest of the money on some good plugins?

Especially with two quite similar hosts like FL and Orion chances are pretty high that you're gonna end up just using one of the two .
I don't know, I'm a one-host type of guy (Cubase SL) and it's hard enough for me getting stuff done with just that one. If I had another host at my disposal I'd just spend all my time noodling around...

Well, just my 2 cents...

Cheers, Jo
