Oatmeal. Because it is still awesome and its random knob is awesome, and the love for detail is awesome, but people do not talk much about it.

Post

Here are some synths I really love, and they are hardly ever mentioned when people are talking about softsynths:

- Dagger (BeepStreet), holy sweet filters!
- Kairatune (creative delay unit, I'd love to have that one as standalone effect)

Bonus:
- Waldorf Largo (maybe not underestimated, but it's so incredible, I'm surprised I don't hear the name more often)

Nine years and one version later, and I'd still agree with this. Blue v1/v2 is still one of the most underappreciated synths around IMO.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

Regarding ArtVera. I always thought Art Pyrite was a re-skinned synth originaly developed by HG fortune.

Post

Both ArtVera and HG predate your joing of the forum by many years.
The idea that Artvera would want or need to reskin an HG plugin
is absurd. I would be quite surprised if they were not close friends,
before his passing.

And I am not even kidding.
What makes you feel they're overlooked?
Thousands of presets. What else???
Pardon? Are they one of the most underestimated syntths because they have athousands of presets?
I mean that all those presets point out that people are actually not TWEAKING the synths... but I guess I did curse in church :D
I never make mistakes; I just blame others.

Good call! Well and truly underestimated. I really like Vera's sound design too.
Exact. And in addition her plugins are beautiful to make "Ambient" music as we talk currently in another thread. I find only one drawback to her plugins (but it is off topic) it is the price that I find definitely too high.
I consider Drumatoxin a steal, at regular price, as well as Mistral.
Some of the newer ones may be spendier, but a lot of time goes in to their sound design.

Unique and specialized vs bread & butter, comes at a price worth saving for,
if it suits your style. I'd get dizzy and tip over my chair, if I tried to reverse engineer
her complex sounds. :hyper:
And there is a pricing difference between using Kontakt player, and a plugin requiring
the full Kontakt, which might be a factor.
Cheers

The most underestimated synth IMO is VAZ Modular. Great synth but sadly discontinued. Fortunately, for me, I could win the final bidding in the kids charity and had it (32bit only though). I really need to install 32bit DAW and make some songs with it :smack:

Other synths:
- The synths that come with Reaktor (like Carbon, Green Matrix, ..etc)
- ACE from u-he
- Retrologue 2 (I don't see it mentioned that much)
- Vacuum Pro
- Loom
- Nuklear from Hamburg Audio (the GUI needs updating of course, it might be the main reason)
- Waldorf synths especially Largo (somehow, well it has a horrible presets browser and presets as well :hihi: , but the synth itself is so good  )
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

All synths are underestimated :hihi:

TranceDrive is a substantial step up from Synth1 in functionality (that basically says it all), at the cost of cpu use, load time, and stability. It's very low on patches and doesn't have a manual, which definitely contributes to the reasons that it didn't take off.

In the massTURBOtar, each patch is actually 5... that you can morph between. :o It can be a challenge to configure the DAW to run it smoothly. It has to stay running, and not get flushed or it will cause lag when starting and stopping playback. It was made in SynthEdit.

Yeah, it's probably time to give Fuzzpilz' Oatmeal another shot.

Has anyone mentioned the FXpansion synths?

Or maybe a lot famous synths are just overrated?
