The Modal 002R rack that has almost no knobs and costs close around 2850€ (the keyboard is around or beyond 4000€) so one might ask if this is not "ridiculously overpriced"...
Feature wise the 002 rack besides offering 4 more voices does not seem to be close to Novation Peak and it also does not seem to include an analog multimode filter, at least not with HP and BP filter modes like in Peak.

OK, perhaps Modal isn't a great comparison. But what I'm saying is with a nice keyboard and bit more effort on materials, £1200 would seem decent value (sitting between Deepmind 12 and Rev2).

This is novation and £1250, they are taking a big big risk with this.

I see two WASPs listed on ebay at the moment, selling for £750 to £1100

So pricewise not too different from Peak

Concerning the Noavtion Peak it seems to be more important that the developer was also involved with the OSC Oscar back in the 80s.

Good to see a sort of revival for digital/hybrid synths, first with the Waldorf Quantum and now this. This looks really nice and not terribly overpriced, but I'm more likely to go for the cheaper and smaller Modor NF-1m.

The Modor NF-1m like the keyboard seems to be a fully digital VA synth and for that a Novation UltraNova might be great alternative which is also not really expensive. The overall amount of features in UltraNova might be more too (indpeendent of the analog filters there msotly even more than in the new Peak synth).
Ultraova also has a nice VSt editor, a built-in audio interface and when used as a audio interface it is even possible to route the audio trought the USB (i was not successful yet to use this feature in combination with a second audio interface while normally i use the analog outputs into my Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP).

The even cheaper and smaller MiniNova seems to have an identical sound engine as UltraNova but programming your own patches only seems to really work there using the VST editor. In UltraNova programming sounds directly at the hardware works quite nicely, at least for me.

Yes, in the current line of novas the ultranova has always got my attention more than the mininova, mainly due to the programmability. I'm personally more interested in small desktop modules though, as I have enough keyboards already and space is an issue. If I did get another synth with an inbuilt keyboard right now, it would probably be to trade my analog four for an analog keys. Something like a 37 keys virus ti2 is something I'd be interested in too,
though i don't plan to spend anywhere near that amount of money anytime soon and I would try to trade something for that too

Even the Novation Peak looks interesting, and if I had that kind of money to spend I would seriously consider it. But for now, something smaller and cheaper like the Modor NF-1m (or another micromonsta) is much more appealing, and likely.

It seems well constructed, the chassis is all metal. We might have to wait to test it in person but I doubt I will be dissapointed.

Of course that goes without saying. But in the case of my reply to bungle, it was mainly to illustrate the second hand price point of WASP at this time, not to compare features between the synths.

I guess the Whitehouse sound is in vouge, which makes WASP so pricey, I would never pay £750 for that synth, the keyboard is horrible.

Ppl pay silly money for vintage stuff, it doesnt always reflect its true value.

As you said, the keybd is crap (among other things...)
