I have no clue as to how REs are doing for the devs, but for Propellerhead, it's probably good for their "romplers" ...
Almost everyone I know personally that owned Reason at one time or another had a version of the Propellerhead Pianos, Drums, Bass Refill that was acquired by .. uh...suspect means. The romplers (A-list), not being available to find on the internet, should ensure a steady stream of income throughout the years - limited as they are.
Is there an A-list Bass yet? Propellerhead can just use the samples from their Bass Refill and charge anew...

The days of the "amazing devices" included in an upgrade are over...unless there is a strategic angle that Propellerhead would need chronic non-upgraders to be wowed again and purchase an upgrade - to hopefully purchase REs that have been developed, on later and better SDKs...

There are artists all over the world who have made incredible music using Reason back when it was much less capable than it is now. It has gotten to a point now where people think DAW's actually dictate how good their music can be. If you cant the sound you want out of Reason at this point the software is certainly not the bottleneck.(Or really most modern DAW's for that matter) The only thing that has changed over the years is the quality in many of the recent rack extensions have progressed so now there is more capability than ever. For the record, I use both Studio one and Reaper along with Reason and they all have their strengths. Reason for me is still the most fun and the best of them for composing or writing.
Windows 10 PC. Reason. Cubase. Waveform. Reaper. Studio One Pro. Epiphone Les Paul Pro II. Nektar Panorama t4. Yamaha RBX Bass. Faderport 2. Eris E5 Monitors. SSL2 Interface. Audient Evo 4. AKG C214. Aston Origin. MXL 990.

I had to google for Izotope Rx to know what you referred to. Anyway, could you elobrate a little what you mean?

PS: The video above: the ending of this video where there's only drums and vocals. Bite me, but the drums sound Reasonish at the end. This might be the SSL compressor that sounds like that. And as I don't want to start another wave about Reason sound - then I blame myself by saying: I am wrong.

Me actually I don't care which is which. That was a jock. You see what headphone he uses to record the vocal, imagine using that headphone to record and mix the song. It is notoriously bright and bleed like hell. It is a nightmare. By any means that is not the tool they used. It is just for video. Actually these days unless I show you everything. It doesn't tell what tools I use. How do you know if I use Cubase finish the mix and import to Reason for a show off? I'm not saying Reason is not capable of giving you good result but this type of video won't show anything except their testimony. About Rx they have got to clean it up after all that bleed.

I have no idea if they use Reason for all their projects. It would be an unnecessary restriction IMO.
