If you want a box like the MBox, there are other solutions, such as the Mackie Spike package, which has some pretty good features.

wr and eric: fair enough, and well said. Can't argue with that kind of evidence and logic. Around here, there's a $20 difference between an 80-gig SATA and a 120-gig EIDE, which still isn't much as long as you have the right motherboard to begin with.

Forget the mbox and go with the emulator x studio for $600. You get like 20 inputs a sampling software included that has all the sounds from the proteus 2000. If you don't want the sampling software you can save about $100.

Get a 17inch TFT,,, my Samsung 172T is nearly two years old now,, my best purchase ever,, it just enhances the whole experience,, always a pleasure to look at.

Got some links for benchmarks showing they're faster? Last I had read on Storage Review, the ATA133 drives were still slightly (not by much) faster. This is normal for new drive technology though. My old IBM Deskstart drives at ATA100 are only a mere 33-35meg reads while my new ATA100 drives are something like 55meg. Same interface, just 2-3 years of technology improvements. SATA will catch up. Give it a year or two, it'll be burying ATA133 drives no problem.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their assistance.

Every advice is appreciated.

I will do a market research (..I am in Greece..), and see if I can come up with a combination that best suits my needs.

All I want actually, is to have a adjusted-to-my-needs complete/comprehensive solution for a home studio,

after some years of experimenting with different computer set up, software and hardware.
