I did this yesterday,
was too tempted by endless tone, had to do something with it.
It is really a bit nasty sounding and brings more a nightmare to your ears and mind then a soothing mood.

I called it:

G.W.B.s lullaby

just hit the title for dl

It reminds me of war and nights full of fear.
and it is in memoriam of all the people who have to suffer from buttheads like G.W.B.

Turn your speakers up and take the nightmare

lets talk in this thread.

I used only one ppg and a preset.
eXT in tracktion----> PPG--->
and then it goes to the FX department.--->
Tractions Phaser --> Tracktions Reverb--->Tracktions Chorus ---> Kajaerhus Classic Reverb ---> Voxengo old SkoolVerb

and then into endlesstone with ringmod sine.

cool i love ppg i only picked it up recently tho but its great.have you got the famous scot solida patches for it yet?if not get them (available here i think in the patches section?)youll love em

yeah i tend to let fx do a lot of the work too,i find some really interesting sounds using fx not normally used here n there

I got those patches

hadn´t have enough time to listen to them till now.

ppg was one of my first synths I demo´ed and immediatly loved.
Though it is sometimes a bit nasty to programm.

And I like to play with the FX and see what can happen when I uase them in unusual manners, like this piece. Who uses 3 reverbs in chain (and all are pretty intense)? Only crazy ones like us

But Ithink this playing is much of the fun and also brings sometimes great sounds nobody expected.
Or have had the idea of ppg when listening the first time?

I like the overall sound and the sound of the instrumentation. The strings sound very mechanically hollow as though they were played inside the corridors of an abandoned spaceship. The sounds speak of impending doom and other such niceties. However the structure of the composition sounds too random for my taste. It lacks clear direction and because of that it is not half as threatening or suspenseful as I think it could be. Maybe that’s also, in part, in the composition but the apparent randomness is a pity. I love that endless tone sound of yours but the sudden & abrupt ending of it is not so cool, I think.

Ps. GWB stands for that indu$trial oil pet monkey that’s currently residing in the White House?

the "randomness" is intended this way, and I think it is a kind of developement in it.

I gave it a couple listens. I like the haunting sound; it has a very horror-movie feel to it.

It is kinda strange, tho; I think it is a little to ambient to sound like a, well, non-ambient song, yet a little too repetitive and full of notes to be ambient. It seems like it wants to build to something, but doesn't quite get all the way there.

Or, maybe it just needs something to hold it all together, like some low, banging drums. But, you know, that's just a thought...

I still need to try out that endless tone plug

What I notice though is how the feedback of that FX is muddifying with the strings; when the strings become heavy the articulation of the FX is totally lost, which I think is a bit of a shame. The strings played though are nice and chaotic with just enough direction to lead the listeners ear. Cool track

my intention was to build a chaotic scary soundscape, a bit of a war atmosphere.

the addition of the low banging drums might work.
but atm I have no idea about a rythm. If you´d like to give it a try, plz feel welcome.

Sorry Mystahr, but I used only one sound of the PPG for the whole piece. and I wanted it to sound dirty and haunting. Don´t know if it keeps that with more articulated FX? Maybe?

do you mean the endless tone should be louder in that part?
or what do you mean by losing the articulation?

I mean it gets lost once the strings are heavy; gets muddied and buried under.... Not sure if it works but you could try finding the strongest frequency of the endless tone, and slightly cut some of those frequencies of the strings. It is loud enough though...
