Then I have one major question:
How many distortion "types" do you consider worthy to be independent plugins?

To me, it's just 3: slight overdrive, General Distortion, Fuzz. Unless we take tube saturation/distortion into consideration as well.

andy-cytomic wrote:(edit: the server isn't being hammered, it's running just fine here for me, perhaps refresh the page in case you had the version with the typo in the download filename?)
Didn't even want me to access the root of your page. But it's fixed now - got the beta.

Question though.. how long will it stay in this state? Or is it effectively a "demo" at this point that can save, but not load settings? I've yet to install it (later tonight - still busy with other stuff).

Up and running and everything's fine so far on windows. Holy moly, does it sound sweet. Been putting it on guitar and drums, will go for keys next. I've only touched a few of the mods, but there's a great deal of depth and variation there. Awesome work!

One thing I've noticed is that switching real-time-oversampling to anything higher than 2x will mute either the left or the right speaker. Fug or beature? Not that I'll really use that, but I was curious to find out how my pc could handle 16x (Ableton shows 115%).

Okay, addendum: it doesn't happen all the time. Weird.

Hi Andy, just to let you know, it doesn't pass Logic validation.

andy-cytomic wrote:The price is still USD 29 for The Scream and won't be changing. If this product goes well then I'll a bunch of different circuits in the same manner, with full component value editing and also an easier page with combos to select the most important components from lists.
Now this is something to look forward to - an update with more circuits in it.
Sorry for the confusion, what I meant is I'll do more products - eg I'll do a RAT and a Big Muff Bi etc - each one will be its own product for USD 29.
:hyper: hopefully the 70s Big MUff Pi cos the new re-issues falls short.
as a kid playing grunge my fav guitar pedals were the Big Muff Pi and the Metal Zone mt-2.
I don't get the youtube haters of the metalzone (and seems adjusting a few settings is too challenging for them), although i see also many that love it just as much as i do. it has a cult following, especially ppl who loved the megadeth and metallica tones of the 90s.
here's a video of the metalzone being tweaked a bit (skip to 2:29). for crunchy saturated "thrash" distortion tones the mt-2 can't be beat.

I just downloaded the demo and really like it. It sounds a little bit more "open" and lively than some competitors' TS emulations. Will buy it.

My wishlist for the next Cytomic stompbox emulations: Boss SD-1 and HM-2 (!!!).

Andrew, you are a genius.. an absolute essential distortion plugin!!
Sounds like the real hardware pedal and even better with the mods :D
Thank you!!

so good. thanks Andy!

your plug ins are essential

Only played with this for about 10 mins or so. Great fun and already noted a few favorite mod settings.
A few glitches, nothing major, will drop Mr A a support ticket to avoid flooding the forum with reports :)

This is one hell of a distortion emu, cant say off the top of my head anything else in my arsenal like it ... which is quite extensive.

The tweakablility for the distortion is too much fun and sounds incredible to me, well done Andy!

Hmmm Nuendo on PC sees the plugin just fine.
Cubase 9 in Sierra mac doesnt' at all.

I s hould add that two times I tried demoing on Nuendo on PC and both times Nuendo crashed on quitting.

Amazing work, a quintessential Insta buy...

some minor gui issue in reaper win7 64
switched to the minimal gui and closed the window.
when reopened comes back up in normal state.

edit:
quick question:
what is the purpose of the cpu meter being clickable?
clicking it makes really loud clicky noise spikes.

Post

Hi, also pre post and mix, is it the method of changing them to double click on them and type in a value or is there another way that one can use their mouse
Thanks

Andy knows about it :

Thanks to everyone that's already bought a copy, very much appreciated!

Found a bug tho: I can't get the Copy A -> B function to work. Normal copy/paste seems to work just fine though. I was also able to "blow up" the emulation in a way that no knob tweaking made any difference any more. Too bad I was stupid enough not to take a screenshot of the settings I was using. Sorry about that.. Will try to back track my steps and next time I manage to kill it I'll take a screen capture.
Thanks for the heads up.Can you please copy and paste this in an email to support@cytomic.com so I can keep track of it better?

Also, some component value edits will blow things up, I don't do much range checking, but I do check for errors at the output and make things silent if anything goes wrong. Click the "undo" buttons and then click the CPU meter - this will undo the change then reset the audio engine.
