Yep, just use the Tracktion pitch shifter plug. Just insert as you would a vsti and you can transpose by as much as -2/+2 octaves and all inbetween without touching the midi data.Gezzdoc wrote:I'm sure I'm being ignorant but; is there a way to transpose an entire MIDI track without having to highlight all the notes in the track?

Doh
Cheers mate! Don't you just love the internet - half an hour and you get an answer to almost anything
PS. Does it say that anywhere in the tracktion user guide?

That could help, but then you have to take into consideration that some notes are not going to transpose correctly.

Hmmm, I've never had any problems using the pitch shifter on midi data. Still, I rarely use the midi side of Tracktion, it's a bit too basic for me, so you may well be correct.donbrad3 wrote:That could help, but then you have to take into consideration that some notes are not going to transpose correctly.

I had a theory it might be possible to use MIDI Yoke to send the output of the pitch shifted track to, say, Midi Yoke 1, but also use Midi Yoke 1 as the input to another empty track. Haven't got it to work though. Though I'm sure it's possible to do it.
[UPDATE]
Heh, I got it work by using Tobybear's VST2MID plugin (comes with Midibag) and NicFit's Midi Out plugin probably works just as well. You just put an instance of VST2MID after the pitch shifter, set VST2MID to output to a midi port (say, Midi Yoke 1), and then use that input on an empty track to record a brand new transposed MIDI clip.
Probably easier to just merge all the MIDI clips on a track and transpose them using the MIDI Clip properties.
Though I would really like to see a Transpose option on a per-track level, or even across several selected tracks.

When you drag the cross to the track, there's a menu listing company names, but for some reason (on mine at least) there's three - Waveform Plugins, Tracktion, and Tracktion Software Corporation. On mine, the Pitch Shifter is listed under Waveform Plugins.
(There's also a Tracktion/Waveform forum: viewforum.php?f=22)

Waveform is the new name for what would have been Tracktion 8. Collector is new and is included when you buy (or upgrade to) Waveform. Melodyne Essential comes with Waveform when you buy it, and has come with new purchases of Tracktion 5, 6, and 7 (I can't quite recall whether it started with T5 or T4).
