Ableton Live 10 - what is it?

Lots of things can be said about the initial release of version 9 of Ableton Live, but stability wasn't one of the things you could speak positively about. But now a few years down the line v9 is pretty much damn perfect on my system and my desires to move to a different platform/DAW have calmed down quite a bit.

Personally I think the next version of Live have been under development for a very long time - and perhaps rightfully so. I would be very happy if the next upcoming version will be as solid as v9 is right now.

But apart from stability, what are you EXPECTING v10 to include? Not to be confused with WANTING of course :) But seriously - what do you guys v10 will add compared with v9?

Surround support - ideally with an unlimited number of outputs.
Push floor pedal counterpart for guitarists.
Take management.

Good points - Take Management would indeed be a big one.

Yea I would also expect takes/comping

Multi-clip edit, like other hosts being able to overlay various midi clips on top of each other in the editor

A revamped UI, not a complete overhaul mind you, but maybe a tad bit of modernization as well as following bitwig a bit with UI 'types'. I would expect touch-screen support. Being the performer centric daw it really needs touch support so I would think that would also bring with it some UI overhaul since its not exactly touch friendly at the moment

Mostly picking up the best new pieces from other daws that abes has missed out on over the past few years

MAX/MSP 8 presumably (its on a 3 year cycle, last released 2014, so....)

All i really want is better audio editing, takes/comping and stability.

That is the only addition that would see me going back to Live...

Possibly, though the two things are kinda mutually exclusive, when Ableton 9 first shipped Max was still on V6, it wasn't until a year later that Max 7 came out. Though their products are heavily integrated Ableton and Cycling '74 are two separate entities

Although not built in, you can get Chaos Culture's MultiClip Editor for Ableton to add that functionality: https://isotonikstudios.com/chaos-cultu ... ip-editor/

What I really need is multicore rendering. How comes Ableton can provide smooth audio in real time with multiple threads, but uses only one for rendering?

Another nice feature would be an ability to link clips in arrangement view and edit copies simultaneously.

Totally agree.

Also #1 FR from me would be:
Multi-clip edit, like other hosts being able to overlay various midi clips on top of each other in the editor

Im aware of all of that, but M4L has been a very significant shot in the arm for the Max ecosystem and its exposure to a wider audience. They'd both be missing a very significant draw if the two aren't at least staged similarly as L9/M7, and I'd hope that the mutualism between the two means they get to do interdependent integration and testing a lot earlier this time round.

It'd certainly be far more 'exciting' and useful to me than Push3 and 'even more bloody stuff you can do with Push' which is the other thing that'll undoubtedly happen within the Max10 lifecycle.

I suspect Ableton are switching to more integrated hardware development (as did NI), it is more profitable and not decimated by pirates and torrents. I suspect 10 will come out linked to some hardware- maybe like Maschine jam- something with faders or something more MPE like Linnstrument.

Personally, I just switched to Bitwig, works for me and has everything I wanted Live 10 to have, but I have still kept my Live 9 suite licence....just in case!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

FOR F'S SAKE, PLEASE STOP FILTERING OUT POLY AFTERTOUCH!

MPE support would also be nice.
