Ummm.. Is there any visual feedback about what is modulated by what?

I mean that I'm going through presets and I'd like to know which modulator is modulating for example partials. I see from the list at right that there's maybe 3 different modulators doing that but which partials? And if I look for cutoff, there's 2 filters and both have modulators but if I click the filter, I can't see(?) which one is modulating it.

It'd be nice to have (if there isn't any) some visual feedback like if I click that cutoff knob, modulators connected to it would lit or something.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe an option whereby clicking on a modulated control means only the relevant mods are shown in the right hand panel.

I met some new problem yesterday : when I was playing with the AM Synthesis from AM/FM, I wanted to set the Frequency precisely to 4.000 but found no way to reach it !

When I use my mouse I always end up on 3.978 and then jump straight to 4.088. So I tried every button that always work in the synths I know : I tried CTRL+click, no luck, SHFT+click, no luck, ALT+click, no luck. So I tried to double-click with hope that I could enter the value I want : no, it resets the value to 1.0. Right click ? Nope.

Is there a way to slow the mouse down and to enter the value you want please ? If not, I'd sugget to add those two features. :)

This is the one case of clicking which I did not want to fix in a hidden way without giving the user full access to the amount of smoothness. So there is a dial called “Smooth Samples” on the envelope modulator page in the center upper right. Use can use this dial to exactly set how smooth you want the envelope edges to be. Try that.
Hi Everett,

I tried the smooth samples option, it removed the clicks I heard.

Preset Airbox Chords has a impulse period waveform with an ADSR, the smooth samples in that ADSR is set to 0.
When I turn it up to e.g. 1048 the clicks are gone.

OK, I figured out the FL Studio Massberg filter stuttering problem.
I tested it in Ableton and it is rock solid clean.
Then in FL Studio if I move the frequency cutoff too quickly it stutters, like you found.
So go into the FL Studio plugin bar top second icon, plugin settings, and pick Processing.
Check "Use fixed size buffers" then click "More" and also check both
"Process maximum size buffers" and "Use maximum buffer size from host".
Now go back to the Massberg cutoff frequency and move the dial quickly,
and now it is totally clean.

I will update the FL Studio instructions on the web site to state this.
Good find! Thanks!
Cheers, but wait a moment!

Process maximum size buffers will cause the VST not playing all the notes, or the correct length ( ASIO buffer 1024 ).
Seems I found the preset that gave the cool sound, turned out to be factory preset airbox chords. Not some edit by me.

Check video:

Second, when I test the massberg filter it responds a bit late to my tweaks.

Edit: lowering the ASIO buffersize from 1024 to 512 helped with the massberg filter response to tweaking.
But Process maximum size buffers on still plays notes different then off.

Edit2: When I do the same stuff in Renoise, it's like in Ableton. Smooth Massberg response. :tu:
Smooth samples in ADSR is still needed to remove the clicks.
And I notice tweaking the parameter knobs feels smoother then in Flstudio.

Enter precise values would be nice indeed.

What I did discover was using rightmouse button at modulation amount above or below the current position changed the value 1 up or down.
That also worked at the parameter screen of the components.

Edit: corrected my reply.

I second that!

Didn't work at the parameter screen of the components.
try the mouse wheel for easy snap value

I like the synth! but when i hold a note for long it breaks and start again. If you understand what i mean
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work

Fantastic synthesizer, I am eager to see granular synthesis in it. Still, in occassions the plugin stops working in FL Studio 12.4 x64 when I move a Fathom knob and I hold down a key on my computer keyboard to play some notes.

To conclude, I would like to know if you plan to add these features:

Right click "init patch"

Navigation buttons for patches

When a patch is selected, it will be very helpful to keep it highlighted and remember the position of the patch when the browser is closed, as it is a bit tedious to navigate between so many patches and remember the last patch selected.

Different types of comb filters (like Zebra and Serum)

More effects (bitcrusher, flanger, phaser, etc.)

LFO rate sync (1/4, 1/8, 1/4t,1/8t, etc)

Random LFO

Physical modeling synthesis?

I know I'm asking for a lot (as if it were a Christmas list :hihi: ), but I'm very excited about this synthesizer

Thanks.

P.D.: The mono version sometimes becomes polyphonic :D

Ah nice, thanks.
Using left mousebutton on the knobs worked now as well, made a vid:

First using left mousebutton, then using scroll wheel on a knob:

PS: Noticed the steps are smaller on e.q. the waveform parameters, good for finetuning the AM/FM parameters!

Thanks, made possible to reach that damn 4.000 !!! :tu:

But it's still completely impossible to reach 4.001 on the Frequency from the AM/FM, then 4.002, and so on. I know it's not a major problem, but I find it very frustrating to have values that nobody can reach on a button. And now, I'm very curious to hear what those values sound like : I'm sure they sound awesome !

GREAT!

+10

Particularly useful on a true modular synth like Fathom where the patches may quickly become complex.

A feature in the kind of "Shift+Wheel" would be awesome to make fine tune on many controls (Detune of oscillators, FM/PM/AM modulation, Cutoff of filters, resonance of filters, speed and rate of the LFOs, adjustment of each step of the ADSR, etc.)

Piece on the cake... "Shift+Wheel" could be used to adjust a value by 0.010 increments (and rounded to the closest 0.010 value as soon as used), and "Ctrl+Shift+Wheel" to adjust a value by 0.001 increments (and rounded to the closest 0.001 value as soon as used).

When you use 12 instances of the mono Fathom, yes, I have noticed that.

But it's a hassle to map each instance on the keyboard before playing...

You're right, it's frustrating, especially to try to reach the perfect sound using the FM modulations.
