First, it's WAY too CPU intensive, and second, it crashed closing (sandboxed, not sure how to report)

EDIT: N/M, it doesn't have any characteristic that beats the PA "greenscream" so it's not relevant.

Oh well.......
In my testing I found the Plugin Alliance bx_greenscreamer sounded the least like an analog TS808 tube screamer of almost all products I tested. I found the best sounding one to be the free Mercuriall TSC, which is too low passed at the top end, but overall the closest in tone, apart from The Scream, to the analog units I've used. If you want low CPU and like the tone of the bx_greenscreamer then please use it. If you want something like sounds like an actual tube screamer pedal then I would use something else.

The Scream is the most accurate emulation, and super deep since you can modify every parameter of every component in the entire model to create amazing sounds. You can adjust the battery voltage and bias position to for all kinds of create effects, and switch between arbitrary sets of diodes, or even bypass them completely to get a TS9 TURBO sound. Nothing else comes even close to what The Scream offers in terms of tone and customisation, but it does take more CPU, there is always a tradeoff! To lower CPU you can disable oversampling, it takes around 6% CPU on my laptop without oversampling.
That's cool, but I'm not looking for an "emulation" as much as a boost tool. I should also mention ignite audio's TS-999 (I paid a donation, always first question people ask :hihi: )

Anyways, good luck in your venture!

2. Revalver: Did anyone of the tweak-heads here try to exchange: Diodes/Resistance/OpAmps/Tolerances?
There is a Screamer and Rat and more.. to tweak.
Did anyone mention/test that? (is it taboo in a Cytomic topic?)
..!?
Only subjects that are taboo are ones that are too off topic or boring, so please lets talk about re-valver and the options available with that software and how it compares to The Scream :tu:
Thx.. i am sure that you have nothing to fear..

Would a strict mono-version make CPU-consumption much lower.(?)
Maybe it would be good to have 2 versions..
(only if it is not so much work)

My computer is over 5 years old and I get 7% CPU usage without oversampling. When I heard this was going to be an "intensive" plugin I expected usage to be much, much higher.

I know nothing about the circuit...how should I tweak mod parameters if I want an authentic TS9 emulation? Is it even possible?
I would like to compare this little beast to the TS9 emu in my Axe FX ii.
So far just 10 minutes of playing almost makes me feel that the winner is The Scream...

Well, well, well...
I bought or tried practically all the simulator pedals in the market.
Both "stand alone" versions or those included in guitar softwares such as Bias, Revalver, Amplitube, and so on.
I can only say that it is absolutely ridiculous to define this product, even though it is a fantastic one, just a simulation of the legendary Tube Screamer. In fact it's definitely the most complete and versatile overdrive pedal simulator I've ever tried.
It's from yesterday that I'm testing all the almost endless possibilities of component change and personalization.
I sincerely believe that you should change the name of this wonder into something that best identifies it as "the king" of emulations and creations of overdrive pedals.

Especially its dynamic is phenomenal and even more important its ability not to cover the nuances of guitar pickups, which is not at all deserved. In other plugs they tend to sound a bit alike (more or less).
Great work!!!
Cheers,
Andrea

Very impressive plugin. It really does behave like a pedal.

U can make a great line for guitar pedals and I also noted that u posted samples with drums.

Have u checked unfiltered audio plugins? They are very nice and impressive and their system with patch bay would be an awesome addition to guitar pedals. I am not even sure why plugin alliance doesn't add it as a module for their other plugins.

If u have the time plz check them and try to develop a similar system. That would definitely be worthy of usd 29 or more for ur guitar pedals.

Other example would be panman from soundtoys. If there are parameters that can be automated based on tempo sync it would be a very nice addition (though not for me as I would use them for guitar playing, but for effects it would be very nice hehe)

As soon as my financial condition gets better will buy it :D

News update: The Scream v1.0.3 is released, which fixes a shutdown issue on Windows and also adds an extra capacitor around the tone stage OpAmp to get things ready for emulating a BOSS SD-1, which I'll ship as a preset, along with TS9/DX modes.

Anyone experiencing issues when removing The Scream or shutting down their DAW after adding The Scream please try out this version and let me know if that has fixed the issue :tu:

Next up is to investigate into Cubase not finding the plugin on some systems, and do AAX builds on both Win and Mac.

If you have any outstanding issues and have not already emailed me please do so: support@cytomic.com

Great Distortion Andy, possibly the most 3d and "analog" sounding i have ever heard coming out of a computer. Purchased last night! I shall send you a private email later when i have a bit of time.

Issue fixed there too (Windows 8.1 + Reaper 64 bits) :tu:

Bought it after 10 mins of demo. Great addition to my distortion arsenal. If you're distortion freak you have to have it :)

Just figured out how to use the mouse to change pre/post/mix.
Very unusual but very nice.
And crash on exit so far seems to be a thing of the past.

I found that whole section visually confusing. They look like buttons but work like faders. And not being able to constantly see the current value makes it easy to lose track of these settings. I think some kind of knob would make more sense for those three.
