ALCHEMY underrated?

Would the new (Logic not Camel) ALCHEMY be better rated and judged by KVRians if it's a normal Mac/Windows based synth like most other good pieces of instruments out there? Is it underrated? Is it one of the better, more versatile and fun to play with plugins? Just wondering...

The original Alchemy was awesome. I think people don't talk about it because Logic Pro doesn't have the majority of market share when it comes to DAWs. How many other DAW-specific plugins do you hear people talk about? Not many.
I loved Alchemy, but I'm not going to buy a Mac and buy Logic Pro just to run one plugin.

This may sound childish, but I stopped using Alchemy since they sold out to Apple. It ran fine on my system, but it felt dead to me. A part of that was me hoping for improvements regarding several key features, and then to realize it would never happen, after all the promises... sucks. Huge disappointment. When I finally migrated to x64, I didn't bother to install it. Still have all the files, but... hell, I'm more than covered with my inflated plugin folder.
I completely realize that it is an immature reaction, but that's it. Anyone else feel this way?

Alchemy (2) is really a great sound design tool.
The integration in Logic is great too.
One of my favorite synth since years.
Version 1.55 was already good but the Logic version can do more.
Sadly they also removed some of my favorite features like .tun file import for microtuning and import of waveforms.
Damn you Apple.....but thank's too for the free upgrade.

There was a relationship between the customers and the developers, in which customers were waiting for Alchemy 2. Then out of the blue, it got sold to Apple and shutdown. That broke the relationship and trust and people were obviously left feeling somewhat betrayed.

Tbh I never really used it much.. it may have made it to maybe three projects. Was not a huge fan of the sound of the audio engine but marveled at its capabilities. Sort of for me, like a hardware version of kurzeil Vast, which did a lot but the sound never really quite did it for me. I rarely even attempt to use it now, not for cutting off my nose to spite my face motive, but I figured at some point some OS change is going to come that will render it useless, so I wean myself off of the little I used of it from as early as possible after the apple buyout was confirmed.

Still use Alchemy 1.55 (I'm on Windows). Using it this week in a live set. I'm not sure Alchemy 2 is underrated, you just don't hear much chatter about it, possibly because it is limited to Logic/Mainstage on Macs instead of cross-platform VST/AU. I was just reminiscing about the Alchemy sound designers the other day.

You are very late to the party. Alchemy its not new and it was a normal plug in for win/mac for many years. It was highly regarded also.martinjuenke wrote:Would the new (Logic not Camel) ALCHEMY be better rated and judged by KVRians if it's a normal Mac/Windows based synth like most other good pieces of instruments out there? He makes it clear that he is referring to "Logic not Camel", which is indeed the newer versionrod_zero wrote:You are very late to the party. I still use it but how is anyone supposed to recommend it? You can't legally obtain the legacy version, and you'd be effectively recommending a DAW with the current version. It's not that it's underrated, it's just that no plugin would be worth recommending if the only way were to use it were to use a specific DAW. You may as well be complaining about Space Designer or Operator being underrated. They're great, but unless you're in a Logic or Ableton forum no one cares.

AlchemyCM via Computer Music I love it personnaly but I'm not a power user.
Did'nt try the new Logic version just wanted to clarify that we can still get a cheap working version. Off I go. Now. Like right now.Not Hijacking is a priority for me. I will shut up. Yes.

Well yes, Logic is probably the only DAW I would recommend (regardless of its other features) on the basis of some of its outstanding and unique instruments and fx. I mainly bought it myself (way before Alchemy) to get access to Sculpture, ES2, several cool fx (esp Ringshifter) and the excellent B3 emulation, and upgraded to LPX to get resumed and ongoing access to Alchemy 2.yellowmix wrote:I still use it but how is anyone supposed to recommend it? Plus it does come with Mainstage too so almost any Mac owner has access to it for next to nothing.

My feelings exactly. Sad rally, I was in the beta for 2 (contacted about it and so on , NDA was being done, then poof, gone... annoying as I was hanging out for V2).ariston wrote:This may sound childish, but I stopped using Alchemy since they sold out to Apple.
