Stepping through the different components with mouseclicks is kind of cumbersome.
What is your thought on making them cc assignable?
On a side note: Would love some emulation of Mackie desk and Soundcraft 200b clipping ;-D

Thanks Dom! And thanks for the multiple emails already. I really appreciate your input on drive and distortion as you are a king of using them to make powerful and twisted soundsdomandroland wrote:Great Distortion Andy, possibly the most 3d and "analog" sounding i have ever heard coming out of a computer. Throw in an Allen and Heath System 10 and Soundtracs solo too

Yeah right i noticed that. I have demo ATM. I recall i added it to drum bus and looked is there some sort of reverb in plugin (seriously) because my drums suddenly appeared as being shifted in axis. Really cool effect.domandroland wrote:Great Distortion Andy, possibly the most 3d and "analog" sounding i have ever heard coming out of a computer. Purchased last night! The "hard case" pretty much speaks for itself if you ask me...andy-cytomic wrote:Here is the "hard case", a loud square wave that clips the output buffer, this pretty much tells the whole story in one picture, you can see that the dc blocking isn't included in the greenscreamer, and there is no modelling of the buffers in the TSC (which stands for Tube Screamer Core - so I'm assuming "core" means not the full circuit ie no buffers):
I'm more interested in the FFT and Waveform view. Unless that's Ableton Live (which the rounded corners for the FFT look like), what is that analysis tool?

The FFT is Live's built in analyser, and I've started writing my own oscilloscope plugin, which I've banged up next to the spectrum and taken screenshots. I will add an analyser to my own plugin, but for now I'm just using the Live one. I'll add all the nice things from a regular oscilloscope software, like rules and adjustable triggering, different stats. I've already added the most important feature, and that is correlation at the trigger point, so that I look for the time domain signal that looks the most like the previous trigger point - this gets rid of all sorts of horrible jumping of the oscilloscope signal and keeps things still.Compyfox wrote: The "hard case" pretty much speaks for itself if you ask me...

When things are in a more user friendly state I'll release it for free, as I find visual inspection time domain waveform data very useful in not only writing software but also producing music, so I figure a good analyser / scope will be useful for others. There seem to be plenty of FFTs, but not many good scopes, and even fewer that are good at both - if anyone knows of a really good scope then please let me know as this will save me time! I want something with the functionality of a regular oscilloscope eg the picoscope software here: https://www.picotech.com/oscilloscope/5 ... e-software (it doesn't have to be this advanced, but just something with adjustable triggering, zoomable display, horizontal and vertical markers that can tell me the delta between each, and some waveform stats eg average dc level, rms, max, min etc.)

I am not a guitar player but do on occasion have to mock them up using samples, obviously never as good and a certain fakeness to it. I use The Glue and The Drop in probably every session for years and have a huge regard for Andy's plugins so the newest one being a guitar pedal emu was greeted with a meh. I downloaded the demo not really expecting much and used it on a guitar sample, what kind of voodoo magic is this !!!!!! tried it on loads of different sources WTF. Its really unreal the way talented devs make this stuff and yet again hats off to the most talented one around , amazing stuff again Andy. Buy this, its not only for guitars.

It still has a way to go, but who knows - maybe a collaboration might happen - in fact, I'd look forward to a test suite implementation: check out Janus Thorborg's/Lightbridge's Signalizer VST Pluginandy-cytomic wrote:if anyone knows of a really good scope then please let me know as this will save me time!

This is something I have tried to find for years but there isn't anything close in VST land. Some of them have a few trigger modes which makes them use-able at the most basic level, but nothing like a proper lab scope. Lately I'd been considering giving it a go myself, but free time is short. Hearing that you might be working on one, and for free to boot, is incredibly exciting!andy-cytomic wrote:if anyone knows of a really good scope then please let me know as this will save me time!
I currently have these three on my PC as they at least have basic triggering:
Smexoscope: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/s_m_ex ... electronix
Jscope: viewtopic.php?p=6612748
VPS Scope: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/vps-sc ... ance-sound
Also, Signalizer as mentioned by Compyfox but this doesn't actually have the scope enabled yet. Looks promising though.

Hi Andy!
The beta price is 29$, will there be a final price? If so, is there a step up price to the final if I buy the beta price? Also, if you would kindly throw in a free Elektron Analog Heat, it would be much appreciated.
Every product you've release so far has been absolutely solid, a sure bet. So I'm not even going to try the Scream, I'm just going to buy it. Later.
Best,
This guy

Forgot to say I'm on Mac for my R&D, so I need a Mac scope! So the Jscope is no good, the VPS doesn't offer the triggering modes I need to view cyclic waveforms and I can't see both frequency and scope at the same time (but is great for most musical uses), and Smexoscope is pretty old and won't load. I'm so fussy! I'll keep on ploughing on with my own development, but I was very happy to notice that VPS is now released with Computer Music Magazine, it looks really useful for most musical tasksDozius wrote: This is something I have tried to find for years but there isn't anything close in VST land. Hey Andy,
Just wanna say that this thing sounds awesome, and I look forward to your take on other stomp boxes. Not to mention, any future compressors, synths or other Cytomic gear. With the praise out of the way, I'm hoping future Cytomic releases improve on some of the UI issues I'm coming across in this release.
For instance, the early UI on page 11 that include knobs for Pre, Post, and Mix seems a lot more intuitive and usable than the current beta. Granted, they'd be covered up with the Mods open, which wouldn't be ideal because that's when you want those the most. In the current state, those three controls aren't conveying their current values to users in a way that allows me to know where I am at a glance (like a knob would). And the Pre and Post knobs, in particular, seem to be very important once you start playing with the mods. I'd much rather have three big knobs on the UI that were always visible and allowed quick tweaking of these. In my little time experimenting with the Mods, I found the volume jumping due to the tweaks, and if Pre and Post gain were knobs, I'd have been tweaking these a lot more than I ended up doing because the current UI obscures these. Knobs would work a lot better when mapped to a hardware controller too.
I also don't think this needs to look like a stompbox. Sometimes, having gear look like the original can help (I'm usually a big proponent when modeling hardware), but in the case of The Scream, the stompbox style UI doesn't add anything. If The Scream looked more like The Drop, without the input/output cables and empty space and lots of big knobs, I think it'd be a lot more functional. If the UI were more of a landscape look, that would mean a lot less scrolling on the Full Tweaks page and a lot more visible items at a time (does the current UI also not indicate where you are in terms of a scroll position indicator). You could probably put a few columns of tweaks with a Drop-style aspect ratio, further increasing usability/workflow.
Anyway, I'm not even asking for a change to the Scream. Any improvements would be welcome, but maybe just consider this some food for thought for the next release. I like my UI's obvious, not needing lots of mouse movement (I've got bad wrists), and easily and intuitively mapped to hardware.
Sounds amazing! Look forward to anything else you have in the works.
