Somebody designed the speaker that is going into the pockets of millions of people, but I cannot seem to identify the manufacturer. I went to the specs page on their website and didn't see it either. Does anybody have any info on it or a similar phone?

I suspect it is manufactured in China (not a very precise location, I know) by whoever posted the cheapest bid that random day. So there is no model or part number, just some raw specs drawn up by Samsung.
Its purpose is to produce sound of 500-5000 Hz. If you look for quality, use an external bluetooth speaker.
I recall at a previous Samsung phone there was a video published concerning the design process; how by experimentation Samsung found out the optimum was 13 holes for the speaker. I got the message from that most parts are of custom design.

Oh, now I remember about that video... The tiny grill with tiny holes has a huge impact on the sonic charisteristics of the speaker behind it. So what speaker it is is irrelevant. The design around it is just as important.

I'm interested in designing SFX for Apps. I'm really just curious about the specs. I want to find out the diaphragm, coil, frequency range, the materials used, the design that went into it etc. I know nobody is really concerned with the audio coming from your phone and I'm not concerning with maintaining quality but I need more information about what kind of limits there are.chk071 wrote:I wonder too.BenHarlos wrote:No, but why are you asking?

Very helpful thanks man! Is there any chance you could find the video? I tried searching and couldn't find anything specific,BertKoor wrote:Its purpose is to produce sound of 500-5000 Hz.

Almost every component was manufactured on the China. They only talk about the camera and processor, but it would be hard to know what they are putting on it.BertKoor wrote:I suspect it is manufactured in China (not a very precise location, I know) by whoever posted the cheapest bid that random day.
