Waves showed once again how to do easy but versatile interface.
Comparing e.g. to the Elysia nvelope, which its different modes may be capable for more things, but Waves with its really simplified, but all essential left GUI, gets the points.

Not sure I need this :) Really enjoying XLN DS-10 Drum Shaper since the sale and it's also very simple to use.

I have a couple of transient shapers, including the nvelope, but the Smack Attack is in my "if in the sale" -list.

Back down to $20-something now - considering it also.

I know, I know - I'm guilty! :hihi:

I have just been using Drum-Shaper like mad and LOVE it. Almost won't do percussion without it now. But there were some things I wish it had... and Smack Attack has them. Damn!

Surreal Machines *might*... eventually put out a vst version of their Transient Machines if you are not set up with Ableton and M4L...but if you ARE already in that ballpark, Transient Machines is definitely worth a look.

Post

Just as a feedback: after using a couple of days, a slight disappointment. SA has some nice features, but the Elysia nvelope is much better if you need basic transient shaping.

Post

The interface on all of Waves new plugins is great, but I really wish Smack Attack was multi-band. I much more prefer using Izotope Neutron's transient shaper as a stand alone plugin.

Post

Oh multiband... I like that idea!! Who knows...

Smack Attack and Torque were created using a new, non Fourier style, tech. It sounds like Waves have other plans for it too.

So maybe, just maybe, we might see a multiband transient shaping plugin at some stage in the not-too-distant future.
