Awesome reply of the day.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Alchemy 1.55 with all the official patch banks costs me 5 times more than Logic Pro X.
Together with all the other Logic stuff i would say for mac users it's worth to buy Logic alone to get Alchemy.
Or get Mainstage if you don't need to dive in so deep.

Your replies motivate me to have a real deep look into ALCHEMY (actually I'm already on Logic). What a pity that I haven't done earlier... Obviously I was distracted by all these other temptations recommended here on KVR 8)

Yeah, it's as dead as Ben's fake "let's make something special together and save the world" bullshit marketing ploy from back in the day. But I'll admit I totally bought it at the time.

Nah, I'm not bitter. Those are just tire marks from the bus. And by the same token I'd have been surprised if the manner in which the sellout went down hadn't influenced market perception. Alchemy 2 will always have that stain, and rightfully so.

A part of that was me hoping for improvements regarding several key features, and then to realize it would never happen, after all the promises... sucks. Huge disappointment. When I finally migrated to x64, I didn't bother to install it. Still have all the files, but... hell, I'm more than covered with my inflated plugin folder.

I completely realize that it is an immature reaction, but that's it. Anyone else feel this way?
Same boat here.
I keep it on for old project and collab compatibility, but there's not much I miss from it.

I use Logic X as my primary DAW and I really like what Alchemy is capable of, but no matter how hard I try, the GUI, and as such, the workflow never seems to gel with me. Especially they way modifyers are handeld. But I have been spoiled by the likes of Zebra and Omnisphere, where I can see all the modifyer routings all in one page/place at once..

I wish Apple would consider something like that for the next update.

If I could use them as AUs, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Everything in Logic is great. But since I could only access them in Live with a clumsy (imo) workaround, it's really of little use.

Not here it is not underrated. I still love it and it's one of the about a dozen soft synths that I regularly use. I love it! Very creative and great sounding! :tu:

What Camel Audio did is really bad, though. Shame on them. :(

^^ TBH, I don't blame the Camel Audio guys at all. They received a very tempting multi-million pound/dollar offer for their project which required them to sign confidentiality agreements.
I'd have taken the money as well, and I suspect most of you would have too.

I still use the Camel Audio Alchemy. It works well, it sounds good and I was lucky to buy a number of excellent sound libraries before the sale to Apple.

With the OP, the re-incarnation of Alchemy in Logic probably doesn't get the attention it requires, so yes it is under-rated. However, I suspect that it will continue to be developed in new ways in the next couple of years. It certainly has a lot of potential for cutting-edge sound design ideas.

Yes, its one of the market economy rules. As e.g. in the case of Emagic/Logic, the Camel Audio took the money and run. We end-users, who pay the bill, must always remember that fact, and possibility, no matter what the developer/salesman promises.

Post

Indeed.
And in fairness, at least Camel Audio Alchemy is reasonably stable, although that could arguably become less so with the advent of new OS systems etc.
There would be more to gripe about if the first incarnation of Alchemy was a bug-ridden nightmare, but I don't believe that is the case for most of us users at the moment?
Either way, it works well on my Windows 7 pc for now...

(And no, I don't think what Camel Audio did was particularly honourable, but I can certainly understand the reasons for what they did £££££££)

Time was when a software vendor's license capitulated to each end-user's sense of honour, so I do feel your pain :tu:

What promises?

Its sad that Camel Audio and Alchemy got bought out , but it's also really exciting for those devs to make the big payday that they did .... I am also happy that I was able to back up all my Camel Stuff , imagine how pissed former Camel customers would've been if they wouldn't of done that ... They also did it for I think a whole year keep the website up ... If I was an Apple person , I'd a definitely bought Logic or Mainstage just to check out Alchemy2.
