Haven't you ever been promised anything by the salesperson?
Think e.g. about your computer OS, you are at least implicitly let understood that there are continuity, you can keep working with your set up. Same concerns almost every durable consumer good.
How long is the expected average life span of the DAW? Plugin? Software company?
Most likely you don't buy a car, no matter how good it is, if you know that manufacturing of the brand is ending, and no more spare parts or service will be delivered. Or the price of that car must be very low.
What if they don't tell you that, and you pay the full price? Happy? Have they cheated you?

Are you hinting at all the Camel Audio info that got deleted from the Internet, including their entire subforum here on KVR?

From my perspective, if you give it enough time, it' definitely one of the better, more versatile and fun to play with plugins. It can do all the basic things of course but more so, things I've never heard before. Time is really the culprit imho if you want to reach those eureka moments, which can be had when enough hours are spent. The new gui is also a huge step forward and makes it easy on the eyes (when working long hours) compared to v. 1.

I have an axe to grind with Apple. I was a long-time user of Logic on Windows. Its purchase by Apple left me without an upgrade path. I was also a user of Alchemy including several sound libraries. Again Apple buys it and leaves me without the ability to move forward. I don't begrudge Camel Audio getting a payday. I object to Apple once again taking a Windows/Mac product and restricting it to Mac only. Having now been burned twice, I will NEVER purchase an Apple product. Ever.

Alchemy 2 for PC.

Camel Audio had already announced that it was going to happen, and there was even a private beta. Then suddenly they (Ben) gave a big "screw you" to all PC users.

Anyway, I hope it was worth the 30 pieces of silver he was paid to betray his loyal customer fan base. And I hope his decision still riddles him with guilt to this day.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

He didn't get 30 pieces of sliver, get got a f**k load more than that.I hope it helps him, the company and their families to achieve their dreams in life.

And good luck to him! f**king crybabies need to get a life,

I wished them luck but felt sorry for the people at kvr who put countless hours into the project (free of charge).

I'm not big on synthesis, so found the VSTi more annoying than anything. The simple things like loading presets just took forever.

Still have my backups but find the thing just kills my creativity.

Spent a bloody fortune on expansions too.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

No shit. But since nobody has verified the actual amount and all the suggestions have only been rumours and speculation, I used a metaphorical example instead.

Dumbass.

Alchemy? Schalchemy?

Bit of an outdated synth today, but okay if it's free.

Imo, loading presets is still quite slow. Especially when compared to Omnisphere 2 for instance.

+1

Amen

Edit:
I'd add that Camel Audio gave a generous amount of time for people to download files and backup what they had purchased. They didn't suddenly shut everything down without warning. Seems to me they went out of their way to make the business sale as painless as possible.

Businesses get sold and go out of business all of the time. Fact of life. Get used to it.

I completely empathise with you, but both of these products weren't Apple's to start with, so how would you know? It's not your mistake and both Logic and Alchemy were and still are great products. :tu:

I would also like to see Logic for PC again... but it won't happen. Unless Apple gets ruined or near ruined. That might happen due to way it's been handled since Jobs kicked the bucket.

Outdated?! No synth is ever really outdated IMO. :hihi:
If all the electronic musicians were like you I wonder what synths would be used today? If at all. :hihi:

For sure it's not outdated (at least for me).
The morphing, the modulations and a lot other stuff is still a lot i didn't find elsewhere in this form.
