ALCHEMY underrated?

Alchemy has got a lot of attention over the years.
It is one of those plugs most users have heard of I believe.
So I would hardly call it underrated.
It is a decent plug.

I was also a user of Alchemy including several sound libraries. Again Apple buys it and leaves me without the ability to move forward. I don't begrudge Camel Audio getting a payday. I object to Apple once again taking a Windows/Mac product and restricting it to Mac only. Having now been burned twice, I will NEVER purchase an Apple product. Ever.

While that's a good point you also can see it from the other side. I don't think that there is any DAW which gives you more for the price tagLotuzia wrote:Not totally falseJJBiener wrote:I have an axe to grind with Apple. I was a long-time user of Logic on Windows. So as mac user you could hope they buy more stuff

My sentiments exactly! In the words of our ex slut-in-chief, "I feel your pain".ariston wrote:This may sound childish, but I stopped using Alchemy since they sold out to Apple. It ran fine on my system, but it felt dead to me. A part of that was me hoping for improvements regarding several key features, and then to realize it would never happen, after all the promises... sucks. Huge disappointment. When I finally migrated to x64, I didn't bother to install it. Still have all the files, but... hell, I'm more than covered with my inflated plugin folder.
I completely realize that it is an immature reaction, but that's it. Anyone else feel this way?

Alchemy 1.55 works fine on Windows 10.
Even though minor bugs were 'introduced' with the last installers before the sell-out/demise. It was surprising to me that a developer with such a world based social conscious sold out to a company that has none though. (Except in their marketing facade.)
More and more, APPLE seems to stand for:
Autistic Perception Personality Lacking Empathy
(A narcissistic indifference to all else.)

If it's "boo hoo they screwed me over" then it is childish.
If it's "do I want to invest time in learning this thing which is no longer supported?" or "do I want to have all my projects dependent on a plugin which might not reinstall properly the next time I update my system?" then your decision not to use it might might be more understandable.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

The answer to the OP is clearly "yes." I really like Alchemy (as a non-Logic macboi), but more importantly it attracted so many outstanding sound designers, who showed me what was possible by layering and modulationg samples & waveforms. The scope and quality of their presets is unequalled in any other synth.

I bought Alchemy soundspacks after the announcement, as well. I have most of the sounds, those are great. I use them especially when I need morphing.
I don't see any contradiction that I complain that CA went out of the (PC) market, although I understand the laws of market economy.
I'm sad because the development of great product (for PC) was violently interrupted.
Rising the voice usually means that you care of something/somebody. No reason to get angry for something if its indifferent to you.

Logic is without doubt the best bang for the buck of any DAW... Logics costs less than Alchemy used to cost by itself. Not only do you get Alchemy, but you also get Sculpture and tons of other stuff plus one of the best DAW's available today.Cinebient wrote:While that's a good point you also can see it from the other side. So yeah, Logic users could well wish Apple buys a few more top developers out

Absolutely! Plus for me it's one of the few synths that focuses as much on performability as sound design.Michael L wrote:The answer to the OP is clearly "yes." There's just that tiny little condition - you have to be an Apple user. If not, you can add about $ 2000 in top of the Logic bill.pdxindy wrote: Logic is without doubt the best bang for the buck of any DAW...

Quite a elitistic wish...
