I should write some instructions, I guess. It's important to remove the old version, if you go 64bit! They still have the same ID. Maybe I should change the ID? But then you'd have to manually replace all instances of a song you might have already started.

Well, let me know, if you guys want me to change the ID of the 64bit version or any new version I post! This, then, will require you to replace all instances of your project. I prefer to keep the ID and simply remove old versions, just so you know.

Is this amount of aliasing noise normal?

4 instances of vst2413 in Reaper, parameter TL automated on bass and chords, ReaDelay on chords, CamelCrusher for compression on drums.
This is just a quick and dirty test, not a competition submission.

Here's a set of all versions. Brian will likely post this later on more clearly, but for all those, who can't wait:

MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE OLD VERSIONS and do not have both 32bit and 64bit scanned by your DAW!
Win64 has all 3 plugins!
Win32 has only p and s updated! (keep your r version!)
Mac has only p and s updated! (keep your r version!)

The new p version now also keeps your program settings. 8)

Taron wrote:Good idea, I just have never done that, plus I might still modify stuff. I found part of the problem with the polyphony bug, but it gets a little convoluted after that and needs some more careful examination. However, I managed to avoid that potential crash "a little bit". There are factors that still get corrupted and those I have to track down. Not like it's my job, hahaha, but it's a fantastic exercise. Plus: I did my first mac compile!!!!!! :hyper:

So, yeah, I will check into the pull request thing...thanks for the tip!
(On top of that, there are a few mistakes in the original code of the "p" version, which I'm not too keen on working out, so that's a potential issue... not sure. )
Sorry if stating the obvious but usually it goes like this:

create a github account if you haven't one already
go to the github page for the source you want to edit
click the fork button, this will create a new repository with a copy of the sourcecode on your own github page.
git clone the newly created git repo
edit source code until you are happy with it
git push your changes
go to github to your repo and click the "pull request" button (below the green Clone/Download button)

if the original repo owner agrees with your changes he can merge your code with his own
if he doesn't ... his loss, you'll have working code anyway and people can still find, access and modify your changes if they want to.

there are other developers here (ssj71,z.prime,bjporter and others probably too) who know much more about git than I do

Ah, thanks, Rob! Yeah, I'll have to get into all this, because it's also actually a lot of fun for me! :D
I just noticed a small twister in the mac s version and updated it! Silly nonsense sometimes...

Anyway, I promise, I will have a go at the github stuff. I think, I have an account already, so that part should be fine, hehehe.
I wonder, if the original developer is still active?!

I have managed to make my very first MAC compile!!! It was NOT easy by any freaking means and there are some fundamental unknowns for me about this machine, but- nonetheless- I have managed to make a working compile!

MAKE SURE YOU DELETE the original vst2413s from your vst folder and your DAW won't even try to find it anymore before you add or replace the attached one!

:phew: OMG...I can't believe it.
totally forgot to say : awesome :!:  :hyper:

Thanks for the 64bit compile. Now I can mess around with vst2413 without being dependant on Reaper's bit bridge. Perhaps I'll try something in Live.

I really want to thank you Tarot. You compiled this program. Great job you have done :tu: :hyper: :D

I, too, still feel like it's magic! :wheee:

Sorry I wrote your name wrong I mean Taron :) Damn my damned brain, again :ud:

In the mean time : here are the linux binaries, compiled from the original source.
https://github.com/rghvdberg/vst2413
For licensing issues I can't put the vst_sdk in the source directory.

Please note :
These were compiled on (K)Ubuntu 17.04, they might not work on your linux distro.
If people want I can add the 16.04 versions too.
The vst are called libvst2413x.so where x = p / r /s

Question / problems ? Let me know.
I appreciate if you do that on github if you can, because I'll be notified by email.
Otherwise pm me.

Well, I can't get this thing to work in my Reaper 32 at all --- as soon as I touch a slider to change a parameter when it's running a midi loop, it just crashes - running it with any of the reaper specials in the "run as" part of the VSTi loader, same problem.

Using the R version on a drum track just doesn't play the kit - sometimes it'll play the first hat or kick, and then no more sound.

Looks like I may break my long run of OSC's this time.

I'll check out a portable reaper 64 and see if it'll behave with the 64-bit version from Taron, but not sure where to go now.

If any reaper user has it working well, please let us know how you did it ...

Thanks

Yeah, this thing is very, very buggy. I'm trying to figure out some of its issues, but it's tough as nails, really. Weird stuff happens, too, like it doesn't want to be a "normal" vst somehow. He's got this emu engine to which he passes parameters that are once removed from where programs and parameters normally would be. Even as I have introduced a way to connect to program parameters, it still does some esoteric stuff that I'm not sure about... very strange.

Post

I just might have to find a host which plays the midi files I prepare - freeze each track and import into Reaper for mixing - might be the only way to do a track for me ...

This synth is quite nice once you really get into it, although the sonic palette is a bit limited.
