And once again, both my email addresses will have been sent email about William's latest get-rich-quick-scheme erm 'fundraising venture' despite more than a decade of insisting to William that he remove my details from his database completely.
Of course this will have happened by 'accident', same as the last 7 or 8 times, and he'll promise it wont happen again....

The mailing company is SendinBlue and is hosted in Europe (so bound by DPR rules). Not sure about this company specifically, but they're going up against MailChimp and MailChimp takes note of how many spam complaints they get for each client. Too many and the client gets bumped.

Did he even RELEASE the promised Group Buy synths at this point?

If not... pass, and pass again. Thankfully I'm not spammed.

From what I see, he sends his emails with Mailchimp. The unsubscribe link is at the bottom of the email, it's a one click unsubscribe link.

If he changed the company he deals with to send his mass emails, there might be glitches when he re-upload his email list to another mass emailing service. Depending on the service he used, the unsubscribers could be reset to subscribers. I wouldn't be surprised by that.

That being said, that doesn't excuse the behavior.

It's possible he's splitting the mailing houses. Mailchimp offers a free or as-near-as-free service below a threshold of 2000 addresses IIRC as a taster service. It wouldn't surprise me to see others do the same: so if you've got a list of around 5k-10k it can be worth the hassle of splitting.

'the glitches' being William lying when he promises that he's removed people from that email list.

What's the difference between Wusik and Cryosonic these days? That William posts on KVR?

From an outsider... is Wusik actually "shipping" products they have collected money for?

Post

Sad how Wusik has got painted into a corner.

WusikStation7 is such a great product, why did it all go pear shaped after that?

With the demise of Alchemy on PC, WS7 could have moved into that territory.

There has definitely been more than one group buy with "Buy now and get <new product> or <new soundset> when it's finished (probably by March)" where the <new product> was never completed and, indeed, the idea completely abandoned.

A few new products that did actually get made were all but abandoned a month or so after release (with significant issues) to make way for a group buy for the newest new product (which may not be delivered).

Some users complain on KVR about it, and usually William tells them that life has been hard, that he'll be working at 100% from now on out, and he'll explain how they at least got a copy of Wusikstation 8 that is working well at a great price.

For example, see this thread from 14 months ago: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=455649

He'll disappear for a while, and then he'll appear, ready to start the next group buy to pre-fund a new product....which has a high probability of never seeing the light of day.

I think WilliamK has a great mind for synth programming, but not for business. Not too different from Discodsp.

+1 I think that is a good summing up.
