Hey Tobias;

I'm trying to get your rtpMidi to work as a virtual MIDI cable within my own desktop, and after about a half an hour of fiddling, I'm getting pretty frustrated. Can you explain exactly how to do this? I'm using Reaper as my DAW, and the inputs/outputs are showing up there, but I can't get them to actually work with the device I'm trying to use them with. I'd like to set up a MIDI control track to automate the parameters of a DX plugin on another track.

So that you dont need to use real MIDI hardware, and a MIDI cable, to connect two (or more) bits of software over MIDI

Normally, your audio applications etc will only 'see' MIDI inputs and outputs that correspond to actual hardware, but this kind of thing creates a 'software' MIDI device with inputs and outputs, and (usually) some way of configuring how they're connected.
