Just watched the 2nd semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

The audio is really extremely BAD[/b} !!!!!!

It sounds like they pick up the audio from microphones in the hall. Instead of plugging it direct to the air.

They must do this on purpose. Because there are so many people involved in this production. So someone must have noticed. Why on earth do they do this. This is the worst audio from any ESC I've ever heard !

What's your location / TV provider?
It sounded absolutely fine here... (Holland - Ziggo)

Sweden. SVT. We have a SmartTV and watc hed SVT'sonline streaming.

You can watch it here: https://www.svtplay.se/eurovision-song-contest

Scroll to when they start performing the songs. The volume is overall low and it sounds as if they pick up the music from microphones in the hall. Really crappy sound here.

Not highest bitrate, but not too bad. Sounds the same, even the volume is the same
It is the "direct" sound, not miked from the PA.
I do hear screaming of the public, but that's what I expect.

I always watch the ESF on the VRT (Een). I find the sound (and the commentary ;) ) much better!

I can't see why different broadscasters would have different quality on the sound. After all they're just forwardning what they get from the production in Kiev.

Well, I don't observe a quality difference. I just tried troubleshooting the situation, and it's possible some broadcasters get their audio in a different way, maybe constantly mix in the commentator which goes over a telephone line.

I think it´s a mix of direct PA output and mic from where the audience is, and the audience is mixed a bit higher than the usual which I actually think contributes to a more lively atmosphere.

Oh, there's a world of difference in audio on the various channels. Try zapping between NPO, VRT, BBC and ARD if you're watching tonight and you'll certainly hear it! (Listening with headphones helps :) )

Yesterday the sound was better. At least louder. It still sounded a bit like as if it was in a b ox. But better then before.

Some of the songs was difficult o thear properly. Others sounded a bit better. But the overall quality wasn't great. I guess I'll have to blame to Swedish broadcaster for it. It's the same every year. But this ytear it was worse.

In the national competition the sound is always good however. Funny.

Well, I'm glad Portgal won !K And I did like what this guy Salvatore Sobral said about "fast food music" ! :-)

Don't you have a choice of other channels to watch it on (e.g. BBC?)

Totally agree about Portugal, Absolutely the deserved winner!

Was a bit shocked that 'our' performance (the sisters O'G3NE) weren't more rewarded by the voters (with the jury they were nr. 5). A stellar performance of a fantastic song! :)

But I was glad that Belgium got to fourth place. Very fragile performance but a great song!

Indeed, we really deserved to be in the top ten, but ended up #11. :tantrum:
Got some theories as of why, but this is how Eurovision Song Festival ought to work.
Australia also deserved much more points from the voters.
Portugal: congrats with winning! Finally...

Spain got what it asked for. I understood there was a far better candidate, totally neglected by the local jury.

I guess that , very, young Belgian girl was very nervous. Poor girl. **Indeed it was very fragile. She sang very low. At leasxt that was what it sounded like when we watched.

I also very much like that Salvatore Sobral won by singing in porgugeese. While most other contries sing in English nowdays.

He must be treated as a national super hero in Porgutla today ! :tu:

I'm excited to see what show they'll put up next year. Hopefully something different :-)

+1

I am quite surprised, that is a classic song, will not be dated in 10 years time.

I think only Irish and British entries should be allowed in English, everyone should have to sing in their mother tongue.

I didn't watch it, as usual, but I was surprised to hear Salvador won. He does have an interesting voice, though, almost a woman's voice at times, I have heard him sing nicer songs on the national level, Jazz stuff.
His movements are odd, almost a bit like Joe Cocker :hihi:
