So, I have been checking out an old wall clock and I have found a bell inside. It sounds like this:

Grab it here, if it doesn't scare you off.

Gets a little gamelan with some tweaks. Good stuff, love it.

Thank you.
And edit... changed the post title to something a bit more relevant. I have been in quite an abstract mood yesterday.

Looks pretty good!

That's a good start, if only it sounds good in the end.

Thank you very much, ZQ! The controls are, er… intriguing. At least until you discover the small 'cheat' legends that help a little. Very inspiring little instrument!

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Great stuff, thanks Zombie Queen! I don't own Kontakt so I made an SFZ for Plogue's Sforzando based on the Kontakt mapping, if you want to test just copy/paste the text to Notepad, save with SFZ extension and place in the root folder near the .nki patch:

Code: Select all

<control>
label_cc20=Body Length set_cc20=127
label_cc21=Coat Length set_cc21=127
label_cc22=Body Mass set_cc22=127
label_cc23=Coat Mass set_cc23=127

<group>
loop_mode=one_shot ampeg_sustain=0 ampeg_hold=0.04 ampeg_decay=0.2 ampeg_decaycc20=25 volume=-1.5 amplitude_cc22=100

<region> sample=bells\bell C.wav pitch_keycenter=g3 lokey=c1 hikey=g#2 tune=40
<region> sample=bells\bell S.wav pitch_keycenter=g3 lokey=g1 hikey=a3 tune=40

<region> sample=bells\bell L.wav pitch_keycenter=g3 lokey=a#3 hikey=d6 tune=40

Thank you. I'm not using Sforzando, I can test in sfz in Sonar... but I trust you, it works.
In Kontakt there's nice vibrato, with speed dependent on note velocity, which is different for both layers. Velocity amount is also different for both layers, I'm not sure if it can be recreated in sfz.

Thanks for the tips! Different velocity amount for each layer is possible and easy to make in SFZ, not sure about the velocity to vibrato speed... (probably not).

The idea is: at low velocity there's relatively less of 'coat' layer - softer sound. At high velocities the vibrato speeds are a tad faster. I don't see any velocity to lfo settings in sfz specs, but I haven't looked very hard.

Very nice sounds, thanks.

Gotta love GLOOMY.

This thing is pretty awesome. But how is this free? Custom UI, sounds great, you should think about charging for it, even if its only like $20. Hell, I'd love to give you money for this, especially if it leads to other great Kontakt instruments.
