What are your usual noodling melodies when you're drawn magically towards a piano or synth?

I usually play only the black keys. Or the white ones. Depending on the mood. :P

Sometimes, when it's a really good day, i even play some chords. But don't tell anyone.

Lends very well to noodling, just play arps in A minor, G major, F major and Bob's your uncle

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Another hottie noodle riff I find is Soft Cell's Youth

E C D, F E C D, F G E F A, G E F G F

Easily/lazily played with one hand

i feel love.

i know saying this in this thread is sort of like killing everyone a little bit very slowly, but it's good that you know about being over the hill in advance --> chopsticks. (axel f is "the" most correct answer def.)
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

My left hand suddenly started noodling this riff:

I am sure it must be some old time classic, like Bach or Beethoven, but what is it?

My favourite pianists are Thelonious Monk and Ryuichi Sakamoto so imagine someone playing improvised Sakamoto style chord progressions but with the hammer playing of Monk.. and not usually very well :help:

That's a beautiful piece - and one of his simpler compositions - the main motif anyway. I think most players could teach themselves that with a bit of perseverance. Go for it ;)

I always thought it would make an excellent sample, but Dread Zone beat me to it, using it on Out of Heaven (Second Light).

But I forgive them, that is also a beautiful downtempo piece.

There's an old rave track by Shut Up And Dance called The Green Man. I absolutely loved it.. it was years later I found out they stole the entire thing from Sakamoto's 'Rain'. I forgive them now lol. Still a great track

I got that track when I bought Telstar's Kaos Theory album back in the day (must have been '93).

A lot of dated stuff on that now, but alongside Prodigy and Messiah that SU&D tracks stands out.

Like yourself I also got an instant flashback when I then later came across Sakamoto's original

The jingle from the 80s: "I am stuck on Band-aid, 'cause Band-aid's stuck on me."

Also one I remember hearing on the radio once for a local grocery store: "...mountains of veggies and fruit to the sky!"
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.
