14 kick sounds in here, 2 of which are hardware samples from a before-mentioned library. The other 12 are Repro-1. Also, under each kick is a little bit of hardware output noise from the original, just so you can't use your audio editor to look at the noise floor and cheat.

Can you tell which 2 kicks are the hardware?

Here we go, now we will see who can listen, and who can troll the internet :hihi:

:)

I heard this one. This and the Only You one from the same guy.... wayyy off on the drums (plus I hear a reverb on the snare, so its not dry), but even the other patches.... nothing is exact (the middle 8 is very very close though).

But the KICK here is EXCELLENT!

I am looking for that thin little kick with the top end click. I can get the nice little static click like this, but not matched with the crisp low end.

I shall keep on tying :)

You have to be play a little with the cut off (a slight notch higher than zero) and the filter decay (again, a slight notch higher than zero - or that's what I think anyway). And maybe adjust the decay of the amp to taste.

The thing is, little changes like that go a long way here. Even a slight nudge here and there makes a massive difference in sound.

And like others said, the original undoubtedly was eq-ed and compressed, and has been to tape at least twice.

I turned on the oversampling for the plugin in Sonar (so I can use a 44.1 project) but still render and playback in 96khz, but when I turned oversampling on for the Repro-1, it appears the sequencer in the Repro-1 got double speed (with a bit of swing - maybe because its not 44.1 to 88.2 - if it was then it would be double precisely)... this is just my guess.

Is this a known issue or something I am doing wrong?

Thank You!

UPDATE: once you adjust the clock in Repro-1 it goes back to working properly. It appears the clock needs to be changed in the softsynth once to be aware of the new sample rate.

You don't need to turn oversampling on for Repro-1, it does its own high-quality oversampling internally, yes at 44.1k as well.

oh good to know!! thank you!

On a different note, it would be cool if repro-1 had duophonic mode. I know the original didn't but U-he usually add that to their synths. And it's not like adding polyphony where the whole structure has to be multiplied by each voice, it just splits the two oscs. Still I guess maybe not exactly straight forward. But I'd be curious if they considered it. Could be cool mixed with the osc mod.

That's a known bug - shall be fixed soon.

We thought about it, but it would have been a much larger surgery than, say, inverting waveforms. I can't remember exactly, but I think some of the modes of the hardware contradicted the idea.

Should we decide to move on with emulations after Repro-1/5, we've put out eyes on the Octave Cat which is extremely cool for duophonic sounds.

Cool, no worries. Bazille is the duophonic king anyways I'd say (even BazilleCM)!

Now that everyone has gotten Yazoo animal out of their system, we all know what everyone will be obsessing to emulate when RP5 comes out

That's a top notch cover. The only thing that it's missing is the glorious kick of doom.
