Which of the three do you use? So much is said about Reason and rightly so it is a great programme. :-o

FL also has a huge following. :o

What about Project 5 then? Lost in the crowd or top of the class? :D

So much has been said about these three but what is the user split on KVR? Also if you are looking at buying a soft studio then place your vote and share your view as to why you think your choice is better for you.

If you use a soft studio that is not mentioned here then share your find with us all!

Dont bother with soft studio's and do everything in one host? That will be option 5 then! 8)

Any of you out there that use only Reason, Project 5 or FL for all your work? Let us know how you do it?

personally, I'm diggin Live4 with Reason rewired in.

You can call up any instrument in the reason rack and sequence it into clips right in live which goes a long way in getting rid of that whole "switching back and forth between two apps" thing. great stuff.

Anyone wanna buy FL producer?

You mean from within Live 4 you can call up Reason instruments? :?

If you really like Reason, then check out Orion.I just switch over to it from Reason and it is really great and has some similarties to Reason

Fl Studio:
Because its cheap and easy to use.

what do you predict for tonight's fight, Clubber?

PAIN!

FLStudio 4 all the way. Reason has better built in synths and samples, but has a HORRIBLE sequencer and no audio recording capabilities, PLUS it's not expandable. Dunno much about Project 5. FLStudio is pretty much the best music software I've ever used.

I use FL for everything - it's so quick and intuitive (I think, but then I started with Fasttracker), plus it's extremely stable and flexible too :hail:

The only downside is the misonceptions many people have about it (but who cares right?) If I were them I'd give it a shiny new gui and a fancy name and charge twice as much...

don't remember why, but I seem to remember the consensus on Project5 was that it's best avoided

The 3 headed beast of Sonar/Project 5/Kinetic is working at warp speed for me. Why?...

Sonar 3: Easy to use, powerful, can do it all, great IDE for mixing/mastering.
The bundled modules are excellent. Producer edition has the
Lexicon Pantheon reverb, that can sound phenomenal.
Project 5: Easy to use, tight integration with Sonar/Kinetic, great pattern
creation tool. All the bundled soft synth/modules play nice with
each other.
Kinetic: Super EZ interface, tons of patterns. Nice pattern builder too, but
excellent as a way to quickly build up a pattern to work with. Track
patches dropped in from Project 5 WILL allow the use of plug-in
synths/modules. Kinetic has over and over again been the catalyst
that gets the creative juices flowing.

All 5 integrate with each other superbly, Sonar has a VST wrapper that works just fine, and overall cost of the 3 is very reasonable given the amount of immediately productive tools you have.

I'm a recent convert over from the Mac (Digital Performer). DP is a fine program, but the holy triumvirate of Sonar/P5/Kinetic has been like moving from 8 track tapes to CD's. Just get so much done so quick with the Cakewalk trio now.

Yes, from within Live Reason instruments can be called up and assigned to any track and sequenced from there. So basically Im using using Reason as a giant VSTi. The only "reason" I even look at Reason is to route the instruments through some efx and to create another subtractor or dr rex or whatever.

FLS for me everytime. Near perfect imo :D

Reason. Only tried the demo..........wtf is that all about? Couldn't get my head round it at all :?

Project 5. Bought it.....sold it as soon as I found a buyer....'nuff said :x Complete bollox, too little too late compared to the rest. I believe it has improved tho' (which is all it could do  )

Orion Platinum. Bought it/sold it.....It's superb :D but totally unstable on my pc for some reason (I'm one of the very, very small minotity here :( )
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

I use Reason because it suits the way I work and because of the "CV" routing. You can get sounds out of this thing no one has listend to before. The fact that it features a sequencer means (to me) you can get it to do things that would knock out the local power grid in other software.

I also use EnergyXT You can do the same routing madness in this and its become the Swiss Army Knife of my studio. Im finding new things to use it for every day. Take yesterday for instance: I found out that KubiK, the new wavetable synth from Concrete, can has 14000 parameters which can have a cc assigned to it. As far as I know this isnt possible in other software studio's but to be honest I have not tried anything else.

The above 2 are amazing tools for the way I work and I would not change them.

Used Fruity for about 18 months, tried Reason demo when it first came out, use ORION Platinum now. Will never need to look again. Quick reasons:
- best bundled instruments and effects of any package,
- absolutely the most inuitive workflow ever,
- huge flexibility,
- skinnable ,
- most useful toolset around,
- awesome sound quality.
