Buying Sylenth1 is like admitting you're middle aged and mediocre

First synth I ever bought and I still own it, and use it.

Buying Sylenth1 and making popular music that girls enjoying dancing to is a great way to troll effete synth hipsters. Then you can sample them when they whine "ugghhh vapid blah blah blah WELL AAAAACKSHUALLY" and make sound effects/dubstep. It's very sustainable and organic.

Never bought it but not saying I would never. It has a classic distinctive sound that is sylenth. You buy a moog because it sounds like a moog, you buy a Roland because it sounds like a Roland, you buy an Arp because it sounds like an Arp, and you LIKE the sound. You are not going to do anything new or ground breaking with these instruments. It's been done and then some. You buy them because you appreciate them. If you really want to hang yourself with your own necktie go to youtube and search for sylenth presets.

So not buying Sylenth1 means you are too young or too old, right?VariKusBrainZ wrote:Buying Sylenth1 is like admitting you're middle aged and mediocre
Well, I still like Sylenth1 and I'm glad that I bought it (Yes, I'm not too old and not young!
[I didn't like the video comparing them! It seems the reviewer doesn't have enough experience with the Virus!]
Anyway, I still believe the other synths are nearer to Virus than Sylenth1 (I mean Dune 2, Spire and Icarus), although the four are inspired by the Virus!
Maybe Dune 2 + Sylenth1 > Virus, but not only one of them IMO. I don't have Virus, but I have seen many good demonstrations and tutorials about it. Great synth indeed (not only for EDM and Trance, but perfect especially for them, I think).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Sylenth is not exactly a copy of Virus, but it does have somehow similar character to Virus VA engine, thick, lush and very alive sound. Virus is a bit fatter and darker, with more agressive filter. Spire may be very close to Virus in its tonal characteristics but it misses virus weight and fatness, it's like a "thinned out" version of Virus sound.EnGee wrote: Anyway, I still believe the other synths are nearer to Virus than Sylenth1 (I mean Dune 2, Spire and Icarus), although the four are inspired by the Virus!

Dune is a completely different thing, not even close. One synth constantly reminds me about my Virus, that's Rapid.

I remember the first days of Sylenth1. There were many comparisons with the Virus sound (the super saw or whatever it is called), and many sold their Virus and used Sylenth1 instead for that sound, the cliché sound of Trance those days.recursive one wrote:

Dune 2 is my fav synth among all the Virus inspired synths. I think I even prefer it more than the Virus itself

I am at least middle-aged and happy about it because decades ago I experienced much better music than today
Nobody can take that away from me, except Alzheimer's
And mediocre? Can't be more mediocre than young people today...
