Hi.

I want some nice sounding high end audio interface for G5.

I'm looking at two things right now, those are
Motu 896HD and RME fireface800.

I'm not sure what to choose.
they both look good on paper but how will they sound.

what I'm looking for is low latency. FW410 doesn't give me that.
and also good sounding preamp for vocal recording,
(or is it better to buy seperate dedicated preamp)

and I know there is Metric Halo, too but it's quite expensive.

Both offer the same possible latencies. 92 samples minimum

The motu sounds fantastic. The fireface isnt even out yet (not even finish being developed on the driver side I beleive).

Both look great, I recommend the motu because I have one, and use it very often.

p.s. oh poop. Wendy had her name on this computer. This is robert speaking :)

Wendy/Robert,

Fireface800 has hit the fan - it is out in the wild in Europe at least.

Its min latency is 48 samples. Drivers are done for PC but Mac support is not finished from what I have gathered from the RME support forum. Check it out yourself.
