Giveaways are always promos. Not that they aren't appreciated, but we still get to criticize them in the context of being a promo, and that's one fugly GUI.Den* wrote: Like OP said: "Anyway, not to look a gift horse in the mouth, pretty damn fine giveaway"
However it's free, and it's useful.
Thanks Positive Grid

I haven't seen this mentioned, so I'll just put it out here: these are basically alpha-level plug-ins. They've been out since at least October 5, 2016, yet the Windows versions are still at v.0.0.7.256.
Also, the "System requirements" and "Update History" links just bring you back to the "Store" page, where you already were when you clicked the links.
That said, they work fine in Sonar Platinum. I don't seem to be having the same problems with Positive Grid stuff that others are unfortunately having--though it's probably just a matter of time.

My 2 cents.
The guy's are just over-the-top, archaic, in their design, and the one with the gold knobs is...
I'm sure all that graphic 'weight' contributes to the issues on startup (Spinning beach ball (Mac), gui appearing parts at a time (also changing between tabs too quickly in 'tube is...'interesting')
I did the obligatory web search (Yes, even for free plugs), and found a ton of negative talk. Seems that bugs have been there since day one, and still aren't fixed.
Sloppy, f'sure. And I'd be screen' if I'd paid for them.
But! All of that aside...I like them
So far, I'm loving the 'tube'. I've yet to compare it to my beloved pulse-teq, but it has a really heft to it. It's definitely set out a lot more logically than other such emulations, and I do appreciate having access to the dress display.
Will play around with all 3 to see which make the final cut. But, at least for the moment, I am happy to overlook the certain annoyances for what I perceive (With my non-golden ears) to be a very good (or just 'likeable') sound.
Hopefully, this promo gets enough people on-board, contributing to feedback etc., that they finally do something about the issues.
Thanks, PG

Way I see it is, one day they might fix all the bugs and everything is wonderful. Pick 'em up now while they're free even if you don't instal them and then you can benefit from any future fixes when it all works.
A bit fried in the higher freqs

This is why you never buy anything, it will all eventually be free.

No you have to buy the stuff that's made out of real shit, like metal and stuff. It's the stuff that's made of bits of fairy dust and imagination, like software and music, that you don't have to pay for. Just wait for it to be given to you on promo. U2 gave away a full album one year, and there's lots of free music on bandcamp. Also, positive grid just gave away three professional EQS, for free!cprompt wrote:Still waiting for my free carghettosynth wrote:This is why you never buy anything, it will all eventually be free.

True.Positive Grid are so weird. Good SOUND but terrible everything else. Even as a "free" gift I am very hesitant to even bother.
Such an incredibly badly run company.

After reading all the comments here, I guess I will not install it. I'm pretty satisfied with the EQs I already got, no need to worry myself with dysfunctional plugins that don't recall their settings properly.

I suspected the UI was just a webpage, didn't test it though.Selfik wrote:This is strange...internet browser opened in plugins window...with google page. Never seen something like that![]()

GUIs are absolutely hideous!
And I can not emphasize that enough.
Products feel very sketchy and unfinished, so even though they sound good, the user experience is awful.
They very much look like amateurish SE creations, but feel much worse in usage. SE GUIs are at least stable and load quickly.
No wonder they're giving these away for free.
I just can't figure out how could anyone have ever said "yep, these are finished products now, ready to be sold" since these are obviously still in the alpha stage.

It is alpha version: Plugin Version: 0.0.7.256.Release
I think they did this giveaway to beta test it as much as possible.

But these have been out for a while now, one would expect at least some updates to be issued in the meantime.
Oh well, we'll see.
For what it's worth, I think it's ok to get these now for free, register and archive (in case they get to mature into proper products, sometime later this decade).
