Waves released a new EQ plugin - the new F6 Floating Band Dynamic EQ:

Haven't tried the waves offering but I've been mostly using this for complex tasks.

The waves EQ looks a lot easier to use though. Another candidate would be the Melda Dynamic EQ.

So full parametric EQ's went from "free sweepable" to "free form" and are now called "floating band". Also, each company has to use the buzzwords "Dynamic EQ" and "mid/side" these days now...

BONUS - for completeness' sake (even though this is OT):
Tokyo Dawn Labs NOVA GE... granted, 20 bucks more - but no buzzwords.

TB-FIX is also great, but the "one-line slider setup" can be confusing and unintuitive at times. Costs 10 bucks less than the Waves thing.

Ah yes TDR Nova is absolutely amazing as well! That's the one I use when there's no need for "special cases".. so pretty much on anything that needs some dynamic sweetening or just basic mud taming.

@Compyfox: Haha yeah agreed on the buzz words. It's rather amusing indeed.

Hmm, I might pick this up. I use Neutron quite a bit but it doesn't have control over the attack and release. For the kinds of things that I'm doing these days I find Dynamic EQ to be indispensable.

"Dynamic EQ" and "mid/side" are not buzzwords, they are terms. For the band thing there is no one standard term, that's why different descriptive roundabout words get used.

Exactly. A dynamic EQ with MS capability is a damn fine tool! I use it all the time.

It was a coupon they gave out for taking a survey. I've already used mine twice at Audiodeluxe. Though they didn't give the full value.
