Good Comp/de-esser/gate for a lead voice ?

Not exactly in fact...

I'm looking for a good advice on an effect processor to be taken between a microphone (an electrostatic type, top quality ) and a PC input ...

As much as i can understand the case, the soundtakes are to be done at home. and the voice need to be compressed,

But the few i experienced about electrostatic mikes, shows me that a proper soundtake out of an "anechoïc" environment, especially if you expect to use a compressor during the takes, is probably impossible

I suppose that a, so to say, "voice-dedicated processor" that use a noise-gate or a kind of spectral denoiser (or both) that can be inserted BEFORE the compressor in the signal process chain could solve ( or minimise ) the problem

I'm persuaded it should exist such devices on the market, that are dedicated to optimise voice takes...or can handle the case successfully

Any suggestions ?

I'll admit right off that I don't know half of what you are talking about (sorry ) but I know for voice compression and the such that Voxengo's Voxformer is very well respected (like all their products) and they don't cost a lot either compared to the quality.

Voxformer looks like an excellent tool, but I believe he needs/wants a hardware solution to go between the mic and the soundcard.

Sorry, no recommendations. My impression when I went looking for a fairly basic mic pre was that such features start to become expensive, so I didn't research any deeper. If you have a good budget, it sounded like (before I tuned the salesperson out) there are good options to be had.

But most compressors include a gate anyway.

That would reduce your question to the following:
'advice on good hardware-compressor wanted (preferably with built-in gate)'

I can understand where you are coming from, however, recording and thereby _fixing_ any kind of effect I think is a bad decision.

You can always insert it after recording (yes, there are timing and AD/DA issues) but with the cheap pre-amps/compressors this is the way to go.

I own a Focusrite Voicemaster and never (!!) use it...

But if money is no problem, I've heard good things about the Avalons, the blue or red Focusrites and if you really want to spend some money look at API

Or just check zzounds or sweetwater for products (I don't know where you live, those are in the US)

Gotta agree. If you're having a hell of a time getting a vocal into the machine in the first place, a nice vocal compressor (not cheap, either) could be handy; otherwise noise gates, compression-as-signal-shaping, de-essing, etc. can all be done in your host.
