UVI Relayer: Precision Creative Delay

Hi Olivier,
Do you have any Unfiltered Audio plugins? I don't think they're the only ones that cause the issue, but I can reliably reproduce Relayer crashes by doing the following in Bitwig:
1. Start a fresh project and add an instance of Unfiltered Audio Fault to an audio track
2. Add an instance of Relayer to another audio track. Relayer crashes once.
3. Click reload plug-in on Relayer and it loads successfully.
Likewise, if you add two instances of Fault, Relayer will crash twice before loading etc.
Like I said, I don't think it's just the Unfiltered Audio plugins but they are the first ones I found while testing today that seem to cause the issue.
Note that there are no issues with the plugins that are causing Relayer to crash i.e. they don't crash themselves. This doesn't happen with any other UVI plugins that I own (Falcon, Thorus, Rotary).
I'm on Windows 10, Bitwig 2.1.1, i7 4770k, 16gb RAM
Cheers
EDIT: This is using Relayer 1.5.1 btw.

@Harry_HH
The rationale behind this is that you usually need the latest version in case we use feature from this version and/or it contains bug fixes.
If you already have the version included in the installer, Pace installer should not really install back and just check that you indeed already have the version and skip the install.
Which OS are we talking about ?

That's not very user friendly way, in my opinion. Most of the installers I know leave the option to the user in the way:otristan wrote:@Harry_HH

"The plugin needs to authorize the latest version of the iLok Manager. If you will install it now, press 'yes' if you already have the latest iLok Manager, or will install it later from the PACE site, press 'cancel' ".
Now, the UVI's forced, user under estimating way leaves open to the user, what happens if he/she cancels the installation (as we see in above qyestion).
The user may have some special reason to keep the older software version in his computer, e.g. depending his/her OS.
This is not the case with me (Win 10), but I always try to avoid unnecessary iLok Manager installations.
In any case, it was very easy for the UVI to do this change, but the feedback I have got from UVI when suggesting this, has been just neglegting.
UVI makes great products, I have 6 of them, but customer care and communication is not their best asset. I hope they improve this side.

Just like Olivier wrote:
I installed 1.3 a while ago. Now I installed 1.3.1.
Pace starts, then gives the message it is already installed.
That's it.
You don't even have to choose as it chooses itself.
Meanwhile have a cuppa tea, breathe and relax.
Must say I have never ever had any problems with UVI support.
On the contrary.

Tnx for info, ok.Harry_HH wrote:Yes, you can cancel the installation to that point without affecting the Relayer installation.c_voltage wrote:Tnx for update, what i wanted to clarify - if not necessary install ilok driver together with plugin (if ilok installed already) it's can just press to cancel when ilok ask install, and after ilok cancel the plugin installation will be finished properly ?
BTW, I have complained several times to UVI about this confusing practice, the iLok Manager installation should be an option, not automation. UVI refuses to understand this.
Yes, i understand, and long time brfore it;s not was a problem for me (except automatically install some Dejavu with ilok, so, i just uninstall this each time, i am on Win7, so as i understood dejavu does not play any role for the correct operation of the plugin or ilok manager), but latest times, starts from v3.1.3 of ilok he do some error during install, and i still not solved this, though all latest windoes updates are present in system. Ofcourse i understand that its not a UVI problem, but nonetheless, it is necessary every time after installation of the plug-in to reinstall the ilok driver back to v3.1.2 (with which there are no problems at all for me).otristan wrote:@Harry_HH

So, why i asked.
Although, probably sooner or later there may be appear incompatibilities with the old ilok version, ie anyway somehow need be to solve problem, well, will see.

Ok now I understand but indeed this is not a future proof solution.c_voltage wrote: Yes, i understand, and long time brfore it;s not was a problem for me (except automatically install some Dejavu with ilok, so, i just uninstall this each time, i am on Win7, so as i understood dejavu does not play any role for the correct operation of the plugin or ilok manager), but latest times, starts from v3.1.3 of ilok he do some error during install, and i still not solved this, though all latest windoes updates are present in system. It's best to contact directly Pace so they can work with you figuring why 3.1.3 won't work for you.
You can as well try the installer cleanup that is available in the zip installer of the official PACE installer
http://installers.ilok.com/iloklicensem ... rWin64.zip
in the troubleshoting directory, reboot, then install latest version and see if this fixes your problem.

SoundToys are also using iLok, but their installer is being nice and just gives you the option to install iLok or not via a checkbox, IIRC.
Shouldn't be a problem for UVI to do the same. Checkbox can be enabled by default but if the user changes it, installer should remember the state of it. Pretty much exactly as it already is with VST, AAX and Standalone checkboxes UVI's installer already offers.
EDIT: Brainfart, there's no checkbox in the installer. The installer just installs additional material which includes iLM and iLok drivers but does NOT run iLok installer automatically.

Just wanted to mention that I got a chance to try the latest version of Relayer with Logic 10.3.1 last night and all the problems are gone. No more crashing or long waits with the spinning wheel. Great!
I also want to say that I don't currently own any UVI products, so I don't have any past experience with their tech support, but I contacted them about the problem I was having with the Relayer demo and Logic about a week ago and in that time they've verified the problem, communicated with all of us about their progress, fixed, tested and released a new version that works. I don't think product support gets any better than that. I will definitely be purchasing software from them in the future.

- Due to Microsoft bugs where some Windows 7 systems are unable to update, we've changed our installer to no longer require any Windows 7 updates.
Tried to install 317 - all ok, no any errors.

I would absolutely love UVI to update Relayer delay with the filters and modulations from Shade and a resizable GUI.
