interesting. i couldn't use the same process. i often need way more than one listen (partial or not) to 'get' the track.

sometimes i begin to love a tune after several listens.
I forgot one further contradictory rule here. Sometimes a song annoys or irritates me, and then later my mind "gets it" and I wind up liking it. For example, in this month's competition, I initially did not like Dr. Apostrophe X's "Knock me up" but later it grew on me. ... like a fungus! The irritation often is a sign that something new is going on here.

I should also add that I listen to the entries as they are posted over the month, so I'm not waiting until the end.

Or on the other hand, I can also see the point of view that if you listen to something long enough, you can begin to like it. I remember Goddard movies being like that. They made no sense after the first or second time of watching, but about the tenth time, it started to make sense. But I don't have time for that now, and if you don't grab me fast, one way or the other, I just won't come back.

That's exactly what I meant  :-)

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is a false voter?

I am totally taken aback. Thanks to everyone who voted for me thus far. Waking up this morning with even a number one vote! :D Wow, I do not know waht to say. Thanks Gordon. Thank you Kriminal, Freeztar, aMUSEd, RustedMonkey, AndrewSimon, Mystahr, Koorby, Emerald Tablet and the #1 from Beardedone and also all the HMs from RichieBee, RayS & nikp2000.

This is by far the best I've done in the voting side.

:D :D :D :D :D

Also a BIG thanks to everyone who reviewed all the songs. These reviews has always been one of the best features of the KvR contest.

I know everybody does not have a lot of time to listen to all the tracks all the way through. What works best for me is to download the songs during the month as they come in. I listen to them and then sort them into 2 directories as I get them. The one directory will be for the ones I feel deserve a vote. At the end of the month I will listen to all again and some songs will be shifted amongst the 2 directories. Finally I will spend time listening more intendly to the top 20 directory, which may actually contain anything from 10 to 30 by this time and score them according some arbitrary system. In months like we had this time when there are just too many ties at the top, I will listen to them again and just add extra criteria on the technical side to choose.

The best thing to do for those who do not have time to listen to them all is to just burn the whole lot to a CD which you can keep in your car.

The question of "False" voters has been mentioned here before. I really do not think that anybody is that stupid or childish.

1 - your track MUST be -

(d) composed using at least some plugin instruments or effects

I used dirtbag organ (vst instrument), guitifier (vst gtr amp plugin), and lot of plugin effets (at least not "dinosaur" about technology)

2 - your track SHOULD be -

(a) composed specifically for this contest

it is

(b) original material / remix / or hybrid in any style

blues could be considered as a "style"

so I followed the rules and think my track is legitimous in this contest
if someone think different ,please let me know

wilkoryte I thought nikp2000 was not aiming at YOU specifically, but rather being sarcastic because a lot lot of others around here "might" have some pre-concieved ideas.

thank you Sepheritoh, I am probably too sensitive and conscious I do not belong of the majority here.
I like this forum and the monthly contests anyway ,a way to make and share music and try to improve my productions

Don't worry. I love blues. I have been a blues guitarist for many years, and still like to do the odd blues tune. There are many others here who also love it. As you by no doubt have seen, there are MANY different styles of musicians around here. Jazz, blues, classical, pop. rock, etc.. This is why I love KvR and I do not bother with many other forums where only hip-hop or d&b is allowed. The one thing we all have in common is that we love music and can appreciate all different styles.

I love blues too - or should I say I love 'the blues'? John Lee Hooker, Slim Harpo, Jimmy Reed, Robert Johnson and Fortran 5. :) Ah that's all good stuff! I've toyed with doing thinth-blues for a long time - maybe next month if we do the"bad mood" theme...

Wilkoryte,

You have done good deed posting a blues. I have wanted to do the same for wa while, Yours is not a stock blues arrangement either but with some originality in the arrangement so well within the rules. What would have made a top 10 would have been a vocal- lyrics or not.

Best,
Gordon

Indeed. I love all types of music, but I grew up in the 70s and for me popular music is blues-based music. My comment was meant exactly as Sepheritoh said. This is the only place I've found not dominated by electronic music and the diversity of genres here show how far digital instruments and recording have come. This was the first overtly blues piece I've heard here. How about a blues month?

I love blues music. My first trip to the Mississipi delta was like a spiritual pilgrimage to me.
