 I'm not so sure about that, haha! :?

 Please, download again, if you had already!

This could possibly happen a few times along the way, but as I was recording a little overview video for you all, it took me 30 minutes to remember showing you the new NOISE and then one single twist of a dial to realize that I forgot to hook up volume control to it... :ud: :dog: :smack:

Then I had to change the snare preset, of course, and so on... but it's all good now, I believe. :phew:

Forgive me, please! It's a weird ride for me...

This is my LotS One Synth Challenge submission. I used the synth in Reaper v5.40, and it appeared in four instances: a kick, a lead, a bass, and a snare. No other effects used other than what was given with the AWESOME synth. I had a lot of fun making this, so please leave feedback. :)

Liking the synth so far.
Warning to all, do not be too vigorous in application of mod wheel. A brickwall limiter really is your friend here.
The GUI is nice, but took me a bit to figure out the color knobs. Color does not change until knob released. Had no idea what knobs did so was listening for something to change and was putting knob back to starting point before letting knob go. Finally discovered their function when checked last touched parameter :dog:

A couple issues.

Downloaded latest version x64. Has V2 in zip file name.
Put unzipped folder into my VST instrument directory.
Reaper found LotS just fine.
No presets though. The preset browser in the GUI is empty.
Tried loading fxb, no fxb files in preset folder, just LSP files which I don't know how to load. :x

Also, is keytracking tied to balance?
All low notes are on the left and as note goes up the sounds pan to the right. Widening control makes the panning more pronounced.
The knobs indicate sound should be in center.

The little silver paddle looking thingy above note A4...is that decoration? It seems like something that should be movable, but I can't seem to get it to do anything. :ud:

AH, so annoying, I've had ALL of this covered in my video recordings last night before discovering my stupidity (2am in my defense).
The RGB dials I've purposely forced to only update at release to avoid slower machines or worse Hosts not to fall on their knees, crying, you know. This is real time rendering with software (unfortunately. I would've preferred openGL, but don't know how in vsts, yet!?).

If I open the generic editor in MuLab, the RGB dials update in realtime and it renders quite quickly... maybe I'll turn it on for you. :)

The Presets GUI is not yet active! See in the upper right on the top bar the two TRIANGLES UP/DOWN!? Those are load and save for presets!

The panning SPREAD I have defaulted to 0.5. Turn it to 0.0, if you wish to have all centered! SPREAD Is not a bipolar dial.

The silver paddle is the fundamental pitch (concert pitch A as reference), which the first spring of SPRING A is locked onto. The other springs and their tuning-needles are relative to it. By default the Spring A tuning needle is one octave higher and the Spring B tuning is two octaves higher. I'll explain all this at my 3rd attempt of recording the overview video, I promise!

@Bdave: AWESOME!!! :hyper: ...I'm thrilled how fun this sounds already! :tu:

I know it's technically been more than 100 OSCs, and the real 100th competition duly celebrated, but still..

Kudos to Brian and the community for keeping this going and in such a friendly and spirited way. Image
Hi, V'ger! :D Will you participate in this OSC? :hyper:

(For those that don't know, V'ger is the man who was in charge of OSC before Brian took over the duties.)

AH, I almost figured, seeing the first post of the General Discussion thread!
WELCOME BACK! And it would be a privilege to have you give my little beasty, LotS, a go for your return! :wheee:
Thanks, e@rs, for reminding us! :tu:

When I saw 'Taron' I was genuinely wondering for a moment whether this was the KVR user or just a funny coincidence... This look like the potential for fun. I hope to join in for my 3rd time :)

Is there a knob for the NOISE generator - can't see one on the latest build. Am I being really thick here, or is the noise just allowed to happen under certain parameter settings?

Makes good noises, hopefully when I understand the processes a bit better then I can dial in some sounds tailored to what I might be looking for.

You have to fully turn clockwise a certain dial on the UI (don't remember which one, I'm currently away from my studio PC) then the synth replaces one of its usual signals with noise.

Hi Doctor! You get Noise if you scroll "diffuse" knob full up from Spring B

Hey Taron some amazing sounds out of this thing... very organic... I really hope you are able to enter a track too as would love to hear how you use it :)

THANKS GUYS!

@Bob:
SPRING B - "diffusion": Turn it all the way to 100% and it's pure NOISE instead! ;)
(I know, JKF already wrote it, but I felt like confirming it! :) )

The Preset GUI is in the works right now and I'm absurdly excited about it already, haha. I'm having to write all this from scratch and it's like making my own little explorer. Why is that fun? ...no idea why, but it is! :hyper:

Initially I was like WTF but getting some interesting sounds with a bit of fiddling around. I think its niche is probably SFX (ala spooky The Shining type of stuff) although there are enough knobs that don't behave like you would expect to generate distinct instruments.

Overall, Good work Taron!

Thanks JKF and Taron! Off to "make some noise" - it's a toss up between a nice gentle piano/strings/bass/brushes composition or a soundtrack type thing with lots of sounds based on only 2 chords Am/Dm (sounding quite good, if I say so myself).

My goal with this OSC was to finally take my rightful position of dead last. I think I might do it with this one.

All sounds, except kick and snare, from init.

Probably one of the most difficult synths I've ever worked with. Couldn't seem to get much diversity out of it no matter how many knobs I turned. Finally, I just decided to go with simple.

Anyway, if this doesn't get me a last place finish I don't know what will.

Listen at your own risk.
