The Syntronik pre-order pricing, especially the crossgrade, is the lowest available price. If you have enough JamPoints and a qualifying IK purchase you can bring that down to about 69.99.

I don't believe it will, at this time there are no plans to offer Syntronik for Gear Credits upon release.

those are long gone i'm still coasting on big credits purchase i made a couple years back on one of the 50% sale. i'd like to spend them on something but so far the things i want weren't purchasable with Gear Credits (i.e. MODO Bass), and the things that are, i don't really need (i.e. the few bits of T-Racks i don't own). so i was wondering if i could "waste" a few credits on, say, the Neve 1073, get the API and Trans-X, and a few more jampoints i could put towards Syntronik

Is Sytronik going to be available in Custom Shop anytime? I can easily see this since it is sample-based oscillators, new samples could be bought and installed. So, if it is going to available in the future like that, then it might be a cause for complaint (and I would say rightly so) that you were not able to use your GC to buy Syntronik on pre-order but then have it available later down the road in Custom Shop.

I can't predict the future but at this time we have no news on that. The current offer is a very deep discount so it shouldn't conflict if there were ever Custom Shop options available as you will still get a much better deal now than you would at a later date after pre-order pricing is over.

The annoying thing is this and Modo Bass are not in the custom shop. I have a couple hundred pounds of credits sitting there in the bank of IK that I would have used to buy both. As it is, I've pre ordered Syntronik using the 30% Jam points. So that has cost me hard cash, when I have more than enough money in the bank of IK, which I can't use at the moment.

PS Peter, did anything come of possible discount / refund / whatever for users upgrading to the Fulltone collection, that already had the OCD pedal?

OK I don't post very often here but I have to say this whole thing seems a bit strange to me. I haven't read the entire thread but enough to know I'm not alone. At first I was quite intrigued, especially by the intro crossgrade price and the opportunity to reduce this even further with JamPoints. I've had my ups and downs with IK over the years but I know they are able to pull off a good product from time to time so the first look was enough to get my attention but I'm not quite there yet.

I have no problem with the idea of a hybrid design with sampling at its core, I'm sure the sound will be convincingly fat... but I'm a bit mystified at the inclusion of 17 different GUIs that all have identical functionality. Huh? I know people like pretty interfaces, and I do too, but that's really a new one.

And the 'DNA' videos talking about all the specific and innovative design and functionality of the original instruments... when in fact for the most part that functionality is not present here - all instruments have an identical and somewhat generic feature set, just with different underlying samples. Why draw our attention to that - were we not supposed to notice?

I'm confident that the samples will be well crafted, and the Drift thing and the filter modelling will add some extra oomph and realism, but it seems like the actual synth engine is kind of basic and limited... and, again, the same through each 'separate' instrument in the set.

So here's my issue... I have the Arturia set, and a metric ton of other synths and sample sets. I know there are Arturia haters and enthusiasts around these parts, and I've no interest in derailing the thread by getting into that, but what's the USP here that would make this essential for me? I am actually more concerned about tying up 50 gigabytes of drive space than I am about the purchase price. And when the Arturia models, whether one loves them or not, seem so much more complete and flexible, by virtue of being fully modelled as opposed to hybrid?

Yes, I know there are some instruments covered here that I may not have in the shed, but being a completist about such things has always seemed a bit silly, though I have fallen into that trap before. I'll readily confess that I'm also not really a synth purist - I don't have the original analog beasties on hand to compare to, though I used to (a very long time ago) have a CS80 and a Concertmate and have played many other wondrous dinosaurs 'in the flesh' over the years. I am more interested in the flexibility of a synth and its ability to produce unique, beautiful and interesting sounds, with subtle variability and tweakability, which will inspire and inhabit the music I make. I don't care if it sounds *exactly* like an analog machine from 40 years ago, if it sounds *good*.

But then again, if you're a purist, aren't you going to want the exact design and flexibility of the original, not just a GUI that looks a bit similar, a generic signal flow and a limited palette of samples and filters (and, yes, a killer FX section)?

So if this product isn't quite for me and isn't quite for a purist, who is it for?

MODO BASS and Syntronik are not currently Custom Shop products - AmpliTube, T-RackS, and SampleTank are and are what the Gear Credits currency were intended for at the time one would have purchased Gear Credits. When more gear is available in those Custom Shop products, that is what Gear Credits would typically be used for. However, I have relayed the requests related to Gear Credit use toward non-Custom Shop products to the team.

I posted in the Fulltone thread that anybody looking to purchase the Fulltone Collection who already for had OCD should PM me with their IK account username and I'd have someone check it out. If you already purchased though (since you mention refund in your question) you would want to contact IK Support as I would not be able to facilitate such a request but they would be the ones to field that.
