EXACTLY: Except that the synth engine in UVI is better, IMO (except maybe the filters here, something yet to be heard) and (and this is a BIG "and") you can use them inside Falcon, accessing a whole lot of possibilities.

You're still not getting it, this doesn't matter, there's only ONE instrument. The SY99 screen may look different from the Moog, but it does EXACTLY THE SAME THING.
You aren't understanding my question and my question isn't for you, its for peter. I was only mentioning SY99 as an example. The question is whether I can select ANY sample to use a source in any of the instrument GUI's or whether each instrument is somehow giving us a way to select only the samples that came from that instruments.

Your question isn't hard to understand. I'll bet you actual money that my understanding is correct. You select samples by loading a patch that has those samples. Loading that patch then automatically loads the GUI for that "instrument."

Your ability to mix and match "oscillators" is limited to the layer level. That is, within a single layer you cannot select a sample from two different synths. In fact, you cannot select a sample at all. Your ability to select samples is defined completely by your ability to select a patch.

Not below that he's telling you that you use layers to access different samples. Some layers will have more than one oscillator sample.
The added power here is that each LAYER (each “oscillator” in this example) has the ability to contain more than one oscillator of samples. For example, a single LAYER can contain an instrument that has a single sawtooth wave in Osc 1 and a second sawtooth wave in Osc 2 that you can detune. Or maybe Osc 1 has samples of 2 detuned oscillators, and Osc 2 has samples of a single square wave with a suboscillator to create a 4-oscillator sound out of just one “instrument” (just one LAYER). And for those that want total control, you can easily choose an instrument that has just a single oscillator sample in Osc 1, program that the way you want it, then use LAYER 2 for a second oscillator, LAYER 3 for a third oscillator, etc.
Of course, this is just like any rompler and it has the same limitation that there is no interaction between the oscillators/layers.

Too bad some of the positives about Syntronik had not been discussed like;

-sampled oscillators means low CPU hit.
-ability to mix and match filters and oscillators
-tonal quality of the filters (based solely on the audio demos)
-ability to layer 4 synths

Instead, seems like the thread is dedicated to complaining about how limited it is....

Those things have all been covered, what else do you want to say about them? Nobody's complaining, we are just trying to understand this product. We understand those ideas already.

I take this to mean that a single "patch" can contain 4 layers and each layer can contain up to 2 oscillators and each oscillator can be any of the oscillator emulations that they've made from a single oscillator to a detuned oscillator that's a sample of 2 oscillators detuned.

What none of that tells me is what I'll be seeing at the patch level if I do combine 4 different layers from 4 different "synths." What GUI will I see? Is it a generic one or is there a different GUI for each layer and that GUI will be whichever synth that layer is attached to?

I'm trying to wrap my head around this but the description above still leaves it a little fuzzy in my brain as to what exactly I'll be seeing when I make a "patch."

For example. Can I pull up a patch with the A6 GUI and inside that patch load samples from any of the other 16 synths?

That is ultimately what I want to know and don't quite understand yet?

Not from what I got out of this thread. How many times were these points discussed as opposed to the "it's a ROMpler. ...it's limited" was discussed?

LOL! Wags, you making it hard. Read Peter's description. You load a patch into a layer, boom, you're done! That patch will have some number of sample oscillators. That's it, that's all the control you have. If you want a single oscillator in a layer, you load a patch with a single oscillator into that layer.

yes on the filters, Its not entirely clear to me yet that we can totally mix and match the oscillators. It might be that we can only layer the whole instruments, but within each instrument they might be limited to the oscillators that were sampled from that instrument...which would much more limiting, but I want to hear Peter's answer about it, his previous response about layering stuff wasn't clear enough to me.

Yes and yes, though for the layering, unless you can layer the oscs and feed them into a synth engine or something...there is not much difference then layering some synths in my DAW...so...I don't see that strong of an advantage there. But my Roland JP-80 has some monster sounding patches, almost all of them layered..so.. I guess at least we get some monster layered presets to twiddle with this way.

Look at the GUI that I posted on the last page. Each layer has its own button. So, you will choose a layer and whichever patch is loaded in that layer will define the gui that you see. So, if you load a Moog bass into layer 1 and an A6 bass into layer two then when you select each of those layers you will see the Moog GUI and the A6 GUI respectively.

Each layer has one GUI for the patch that's loaded.
