Even Thin Lizzy had da Funk.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

The Funk is on the Thin side in that one . :D

Well, it's definitely synth - I'm not so sure if it's text book funk. Probably have to settle on Euro-Disco. But it is glorious Moogage and it is wonderful - one of my favorites.

You gotta get the 12" extended version so it goes on and on...

They were so funky they were occasionally all over the place.
As in "Flashlight" - where you can hear Bernie Worrell invent a big chunk of the Minimoog bass vocabulary.

Everyone needs a little light under the sun.

You can have me.

Usual suspects, heritage, drugs and vocoder bands.

In a way it would be great to use this thread to post *new* Funk bands and tracks. I mean we all know about Funkadelic/James Brown/Parliament/etc/etc. I see the links and won't even click on them as I know each track off by heart, as I would imagine most people. So, how about new bands artists making Funk that you like? Are there any? There are many artists that create cool Jazz/groove tracks (Joshua Redman comes to mind) but it's not funk. So, what's out there that's new and super cool?

Here's Joshua Redman and the Elestic Band. Jazz but oh so funky!

The OP started with JB (that's some jive) and hasn't lamented for pitches in other directions yet, so I guess we're kinda free already.
I've tried with Screaming Headless Torsos which is at least creeping old and somewhat new as Redman and the Elastics, another fav of mine.

Imo 'nuff rethoric, funky is funk.

Anyway, I'll +1 promoting the new stuff. (And Bandcamp links so I can buy it if I like it would be great for the artists, too.)
