I had a little spat at them about gobbler but it seems to be the flavour of the month for some reason. Either way I'm still a Softube customer and I don't use Gobbler. It is not necessary to use it, they just make it a bit harder if you don't want to.

Is that just because of Studio One features or a Softube choice?
Studio One feature I assume ... or is it ? ... remember when their free Saturation Knob was for Studio One only?
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

How very dare they write software to use a feature/API not available in other DAWs.

This is just accessing the crosstalk stuff in Studio One's MixFX. Personally, I think the whole crosstalk thing is overrated but they have a plugin that does make some degree sense in that context and they've gone and used it.

It relies on a Studio One feature - like Celemony ARA, it's an API that allows /enables tighter integration of plugins into the host (unlike ARA it's proprietary though).

It sounds very good imho, but doesn't add anything that I am not getting from my UAD tape plugins.
Alas for me a day late and a dollar short.

Sounds pretty good after trying it out a bit, I like that there are also some settings for more lo-fi cassette type sound.
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Anybody know how it compares to Satin, FerricTDS, TB ReelBus, Roundtone and all the other tape plugs out there?

If you run Presonus Studio One, you can not only use Tape as a standard plug-in. Adding Tape to your MixFX slot gives you Tape Multitrack. Tape Multitrack includes all the goodies of Tape, but in addition, you get selectable crosstalk between each individual track—and you can easily control the Tape Multitrack settings from a single interface. The Tape and Tape Multitrack license is one and the same. This means that if you’re not a Studio One user but at some future point decide to switch to that DAW, you will already have Tape Multitrack installed, licensed and ready to go.
Aa, you mean console plugin? CTC?

Just had the mail.
Not sure if I buy into Softube any longer, Tarantino may dub it "The Gobbler Situation".

Is there an official Softube statement offline installers to be continued ?
Some jumped into the water, do you see Tape installer in account ?

You can still download offline installers but I think you need to set up a Gobbler account to gain access to the user area – then scroll all the way to the bottom of the user account page at Softube to find the Downloads link. They are all now downloadable as individual products - you don't have to use the all-in-one installer anymore, so there is a silver lining to all this.

I'm just trying the demo now...I had to log out and back in to Gobbler for the install option to appear. First impressions are it does sound good and adds no noticeable latency. Very tempted at $67 in basket at JRR :phones:

I was looking for Softube Saturation Knob in My Account earlier and didn't see it there. After going to Wayback Machine I found:

Softube Plug-Ins (VST AAX 32-bit) 2.3.41 Setup
Softube Plug-Ins (VST AAX 64-bit) 2.3.76 Setup

I have no idea if they are the ''latest'' versions of the old installer. Anyway, I don't see any individual installer for Softube Saturation Knob anywhere. If someone knows diffferent, please let me know.

If I try to install later versions (using individual installers) of Softube Plugins, the individual installers warn that ''An old version of Softube Plug-Ins is already installed. Click 'OK' to remove previous versions or 'Cancel' the upgrade.''

So, that seems to leave Gobbler as the only alternative, or just do without Softube Saturation Knob.

I can't remember why exactly but in a recent Softube Thread, not everybody was a fan of the Goggler Installer and I made a mental note to avoid using it.

I have Saturation Knob showing in mine among the paid-for stuff (mainly the old studio pack plugins), so may be a glitch in your account if it's not there.

The latest version, which I just downloaded to test that I wasn't giving out duff advice, is: 2.4.17. They all appear to be at that version, presumably because they use the same framework across all their plugins.
