Ikm have nobody else to blame but themselves for the way this thread has turned out. Bullshit marketing 101 'wins' once again
Yes, those videos, the three DNA videos, are just a synth history lesson. It's an interesting tactic, they are talking about the original synths and, in your mind, you think "wow that's what I'm getting." But they aren't really talking at all about the actual product that they're selling. That statement above, however, is just blatantly false and I can see why people are confused when they follow material like that.

Point blank, Galaxy DOES NOT offer the flexibility of the A6, or anything close to it.

Please refer to the "challenge" video that was posted earlier in this thread ("Can Syntronik do THIS?" type of challenge) and the affirmative answer I posted in response to said challenge. The evolving sound was quite flexible and considering the answer came from the main person behind Syntronik who also happened to be the Product Manager and one of the main designers of the real A6 itself as a reply to this. Thanks.

I told everybody so, multiple times. I've stated exactly what Syntronik is and exactly who it is for. At least I won't bore people by quoting one of said posts explaining both of those things again. At least not on this page.
Clearly, you weren't clear enough because even after pages and pages people still felt that there was more going on and were adamant that my interpretation needed to be verified by you.

TBH, your language isn't very clear. I think that you have a hard time separating sales mode from informational mode. I think that's exactly why, right up to the end, some people were still confused. I told wags a page or so ago to read YOUR text because it seemed fairly clear to me, but, people still needed clarification.
I understand it may have been hard to find these (although I did repeat them) among the fluff side conversations and odd arguments you were all having in here, but I was quite clear. Even carefully so, being that I checked any of my answers or relayed directly from the person in charge of the Syntronik project, the person who knows the most about it.

[Edit for brevity]You've known Syntronik isn't for you for a while, you've apparently proven some point and I took the bait finally but feel free to continue to bump the thread as much as you'd like - but I'm not likely taking that bait again.

If anybody who was able to find my replies in the sea of manufactured controversy has any questions, please do let me know. Thanks!

No, the evidence says otherwise. This is an opportunity for you to listen and not talk down to potential customers. You weren't clear, people were confused.
But I get the sense you want to feel you've won some argument or something
LOL! I have no argument with you.

OK some bait is tasty... But seriously, I'm not talking down to anybody and you've made it clear you aren't a potential customer (though I'm not talking down to you either - "LOL!"). Have an outstanding morning, I appreciate your comments and concerns.

Not really I'm afraid, Peter. I've been asking for weeks if its possible to choose a source independent of a patch, a fundamental question and principle, and only now we have the answer. To me, that's a really critical point in terms of seeing what the product is and isn't. But yes, it has prolonged the drama.

Maybe I'm not getting on with the aesthetic of the demos, but I don't really hear anything exciting either. Admittedly I'm pretty fully loaded with Omnisphere, V Collection, Re-Pro 1, Monark, FM8 etc, but these cover all that territory with more apparent sonic aplomb and certainly more scope for manipulation. As I say, it could just be a demo thing, but we still don't have a walkthrough so that's all we have to go on.

Low CPU would be a good plus for many, but for me that's offset by the heft of the laptop-unfriendly 50gb sample library. So overall - and I'm by no means a hardcore "build evey patch from scratch" kinda guy - this doesn't really offer anything. I guess I'm not the target audience either, but it seems the more the discussion has gone on, the smaller that target audience has become.

But - wake me if version 2.0 comes down the line with, say, a source browser for the two "oscillators" and simple mod matrix and envelopes.

No, it is not IK's fault. I had the same info as everyone else and knew exactly what it was and that is why I am fine with the features it has. That's is why I'm not complaining. I did my own research and came to my own conclusions. This thread added "zero" info for me.

This thread turned out like pretty much every other thread on KVR; just a bunch of utter nonsense by people who like to hear themselves talk.

An appeal to authority fallacy does nothing to change the fact that the sentence I quoted is untrue, on both of the counts that I highlighted:

By definition, no approximation, replica, or virtual representation can be regarded as authentic. And, "quite flexible", is a world away from, "offers the flexibility of the Andromeda".

A more accurate represantation might be:

"It's more flexible than it's simple design would lead you to believe, and sounds almost identical to the original".

If you need any further clarification, you'll find me at the 'No Bullshit marketing agency'. Strangely, we don't get much work, so I'm available any time :P

I think possibly you knew what it was (or maybe more what it wasn't) in spite of the info and marketing. You were not alone. However, it is quite apparent from some issues in this thread that the hyperbole set up false, then unmet expectations.

That's what makes it so frustrating and unnecessary, imo

IK's marketing is the same for much of their releases. A tease, then more info and a preorder offer.

I was able to see quickly by the images that none of the synths featured had all their controls. Not the J8. Not the CS80. Not the Obehiem. So why would I or anyone else think that the A6 would have all the functions? Pretty straight forward to me.

In reality the GUI could have been one generic control panel since they all offer the same settings. However the sound quality seems to be exceptional and that was a big selling point to me. I would rather have a great sound plug that is limited in programmability than a full featured plug that sounds dull and stale. Since the end result for me is recording the sound matters the most.

As for the foolishness in this thread; that's what you get when there is little to no moderation.

Particularly since there isn't actually any evidence that Syntronik could reproduce that video. I just watched that video, there's osc FM as well as other pitch modulation going on in there. I don't think Syntronik will get anywhere close to that. It's not really about the arpeggiator. Watch at 2:26, you can clearly see that he adjusts the osc 2->osc 1 FM. At other points in the video he's changing the envelope modulation of osc 2.

I don't think anyone did; at least, not entirely. Maybe the marketing is not totally at fault for that confusion, because we should all be well-versed in this bullshit by now (this is not an criticism levelled at just ikm, either).

However, that still doesn't excuse the untruth in the marketing.

The confusion and misconception of this product is mostly self-inflicted. If instead of filling the thread with 32 pages of nothing, it could have been filled with relevant questions thar Peter could have answered and then those answers could have been delved into further with follow up questions.

We agree that it's mostly self-inflicted, but that still leaves my point about bullshit marketing.

As to your other point: You know what they say about ifs and ands :tu:
