Only thing missing is that the dude pops up and tells us it was all a big joke and we´d have to wait 10 years to get powerfull enough CPUs to do MIDI sequencing on a "Personal Computer"...

well you have both id software and apogee games to thank.sickle666 wrote:This is insane..
So we'll have John Carmack to thanks for impending control of real-time convolutions?
wolfenstein 3d came out before doom did.. if you recall it was the first 3d first person shooter and was made by id software (their first id software game?) for apogee..
then came rise of the triad and doom.. etc
pretty nifty.. but I still want to see what others do with this (if it works or doesnt.. if it breaks something etc) before giving it a go!

What about SYSTEM SHOCK!!! That game had more interactive objects, jumping ability, looking up/down freely, and an actual plot before the Dooms came along...SS1 and SS2 are some of the best games ever made! Um...what is this topic about again?

There's always a good reason to upgrade your graphics card but this is ridiculous
Not really, is very cool to see a GPU processing audio data.
Mine is a Geforce FX 5200, it's core runs at 250Mhz, time to get a water cooling system
I'm really curious to see how this works.

well, hey ppl, don't get excited too fast
even if the prgramers can actually make plugins that will run on most video cards (stablily) but only with average native plugin quality sounds, UAD1 and powercore will still sell and be loved. just see how much faster the CPUs are today compare to uad1 and powercore, but why, more and more people buyng them? the sound, right?
just wait and see~

You've got a point... but if this thing were able to run Voxengo quality plugins (I would've said Waves, but they're shit in my opinion!) and stuff like Torben's plugins, then thats gotta be competition for the Powercore and UAD1.
Plus a quality graphics card is WAAYY cheaper than a UAD1.

I don't think so.. although saying that a Pulsar card can run VST's from it... so maybe that is another software issue??

I meant what LM was saying - A pulsar can run your ambiences and your golden compressors from its own dsp chips, taking the weight off of the CPU.
So if it DOES work like that.... JUICY!

Heheheheh! I'm just saying what my interpretation was! I'm a lazy f--- sometimes and didn't wade through the technical details, so I might be way off base!ttoz wrote:that's how I understood it, that it will need proprietary plugins like pulsar uad and poco. which means like a new product all over again and a long wait for good plugins and 2 years before stability.Amberience wrote:I don't think so.. although saying that a Pulsar card can run VST's from it... so maybe that is another software issue??
