Did someone manage to squeeze an actual day of release out of the Marketing Department ? I'll probably buy it since it will no doubt provide at least as much fun as the same priced dinner and a movie. I'm interested not because of the marketing but in spite of it.......

That's actually something to squeeze out of developers and the testing team. We'll announce a date when there is one to announce (though we do have an internal target, we would like to be sure before getting people's hopes up).Teksonik wrote:Did someone manage to squeeze an actual day of release out of the Marketing Department ? To address your other post, it is indeed true (thanks for the wink, I think that means you were poking fun or a feature/change you would like hasn't been implemented which also happens - FRs and such are implemented based on many different factors and based on a userbase far wider than KVR's active forum userbase - as much as I'm someone who "cares about the people there" - quoted since it is also from that interview, those are not scare quotes

Sorry but it was missed among the arguing, I see you posted around 10PM last night, I'm sure I would have seen it in a re-read of this wonderful thread. Of course I'm always available via PM if you want to ask something or point out your question too. I'm not always here (as pointed out earlier I do have other responsibilities at IK) and not a robot so I might miss something from time to timequantum7 wrote:I didn't feel like going through 36 pages of people arguing.wagtunes wrote:This has already been answered. Thanks! Thanks for letting me know though.....since IK obviously had no interest in answering my question. Too bad. I'll most liking be passing on this then.

I didn't quote you, thus it wasn't a reply specifically to you. However, I see you made some "points" that you feel a product you haven't used can't be described by two adjectives used in one of our videos and generally marketing is "bullshit" [edit - which I do hope brings you to the conclusion that a preorder of a product for which you don't agree with the presented information would probably not be for you]. I addressed the first one already (with regard to the "challenge" video that was posted and the answer from Syntronik lead and Product Manager & one of the main designers of the actual Andromeda A6 hardware synth...el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:None of that speaks to the points I madePeter - IK Multimedia wrote:Perhaps for the first time in my roughly eight years at IK, I'll embrace the side conversation about marketing

I'm pretty sure I've addressed your "points" but thanks for the opportunity to repeat that (for probably the third or fourth time - which is cool, because we're proud to have him on this great product, he's an encyclopedia of synth knowledge with years of experience in the industry as noted, not to mention decades recording & touring globally playing these and other vintage synths).

Again, because I think that you missed my earlier post, that video clip contains clear oscillator FM as part of the performance. You can watch it happen as well as hear it at about 2:20 or so in the video. (my other posted recorded the exact time) Additionally, I believe, that there is other modulation of pitch in real time.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: I addressed the first one already (with regard to the "challenge" video that was posted and the answer from Syntronik lead and Product Manager & one of the main designers of the actual Andromeda A6 hardware synth...
So I don't think that Syntronik can do this. That video is far more than just an arpeggio on some synth samples, he is making clear use of the synthesis power of the A6 which is not captured by Syntronik.
Just saying that your product can do something isn't the same thing as showing that it can. None of your recorded demo tracks containi anything like what is being demonstrated in the video. I don't think that you've met that challenge at all. Did I miss where you posted a video of a similar performance?

As for that first line, I recall we've changed it up a few times (though I'm lumping in all types of releases we do since we do interfaces, controllers, microphones, speakers, stands, accessories, and apps in addition to software - as you can see in the image below where we've cleaned up the products menu on our site very recently... and with Ola Englund in the background for metal fansJJ_Jettflow wrote: IK's marketing is the same for much of their releases. A tease, then more info and a preorder offer.
I was able to see quickly by the images that none of the synths featured had all their controls. Not the J8. Not the CS80. Not the Obehiem. So why would I or anyone else think that the A6 would have all the functions? Pretty straight forward to me.
In reality the GUI could have been one generic control panel since they all offer the same settings. However the sound quality seems to be exceptional and that was a big selling point to me. I would rather have a great sound plug that is limited in programmability than a full featured plug that sounds dull and stale. Since the end result for me is recording the sound matters the most.
As for the foolishness in this thread; that's what you get when there is little to no moderation.

Also, thanks for the kind words I do believe you will enjoy Syntronik immensely as your needs and expectations seem to fit the target audience defined earlier in this thread.

That tickled me. About 20 pages back, I was going to ask if you could open another thread where we could talk about Syntronik! But it looks like things have settled down. It was an insta-buy for me.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:...I'm sure I would have seen it in a re-read of this wonderful thread.

I just went to Youtube and listened to the 3 DNA synth videos covering the 17 instruments.
Question: Are all the sounds we're hearing coming from the original synths or are they coming from Syntronik?
The reason I'm asking is because, honestly, I can't tell the difference. Now I guess this should be the case since Syntronik is actual samples. The sound should be identical.
However, the bigger reason I'm asking is this.
Forget sound design. Not everything has to be about sound design. When I pull up Chris Hein's Violin and Cello, I don't design sounds. I play an instrument that, to me, is as close to the real thing as I've ever heard. I don't care that I can't make the violin sound like a wailing banshee.
With 17 accurate sounding synths, even if they are limited as to the variety of different sounds you can out of them depending on the included samples, with the ability to layer 4 of these synths at the same time, you can still come up with interesting combinations.
Granted, I can do this now in my DAW by simply loading 4 different synths and arming each track when I play the keyboard, something which I think I'm going to start doing, but I don't have all these emulations. And a few I do have, quite honestly (I'm looking at you Arturia) don't really sound like the originals.
I'm starting to look at Syntronik in a whole new way. I mean it's not like I've never bought basically static sound generation tools before. Not everything I have has the ability to create every sound in existence. I think this is a nice way of adding some color to one's existing sound pallet without necessarily being redundant. Especially since nobody has come out with an A6. At least nobody that I know of.
I'm not saying I'm definitely getting it but at $69, it's tempting.
The only real downside for me is the 50 gig size. I hate downloading stuff that big. While I bought Omnisphere in the box, I had to download Omnisphere 2 from the site. It was not fun. That might actually be the one thing that holds me back and not the limited functionality.
Yes, I can definitely see a market for this, especially if what I heard was actually from Syntronik and not from the original synths.
So if somebody can confirm that, it will help in helping me make a decision.
Here are the 3 videos I watched.

Just a couple of questions for Peter...
Do you know how the download will be available (individual instruments, multiple parts to one file, continuata-type manager)?
I don't have 50gb free on my SSD so, until I purchase a new one, will Syntronik run okay from a flash drive?
I have a 128gb stick that I run some small Kontakt files from, so thought I might run Syntronik from that in the meantime....as long as it doesn't interfere with any copy protection or cause issues moving from one drive to another.
Thanks.
