OMG KVR is under a terrorist attack lol
People calm down, it's just code. And, after testing OBXD... the sound doesn't impress as much as the top of the line synths (Diva, etc.). So aciddose might have a point.

Back in days of VHS we used to say, that some people have blinking 00:00 on their VCR's. The same people probably have blinkin' zeros on their microwaves and You cannot do a thing about this.Rappo Clappo wrote:
I suppose a technical person could figure out how a microwave oven works without having any knowledge of Chinese. Or any other specific language.
The world is not full of programmers. Maybe it's a good thing

the f**king douche just won't go away! unbelievable! yeah, go on, moron, post for another 50 pages how you dislike OBXD and everything about it. so much meaning in that. what is this thread becoming anyway? yeah, lets all dismiss OBXD as having a rubbish code and not being all that good, after all. way to go, guys! way to go! and again, so much meaning in that!
and to the rest of you twats, I'm not talking to you so STFU. f**king bootlickers. the guy is a f**king jerk and a douche-nozzle. the f**ker doesn't even have an inch of humility to step aside as he clearly is not interested in anything OBXD related and has not intention whatsoever of developing it further, yet feels comfortable coming here and running his mouth. I just wish the original programmers of OBXD were here to shove his bigoted, arrogant attitude down his throat. if they were present, his sorry ass wouldn't be here to begin with.

Pfft, no bans ever stopped me from making a point. Read this guy's previous statements from the beginning and you'll see it.
His synth is not all that good to begin with, as he'd like to think and assure us, yet he finds the time and courage to disregard other's work as rubbish. f**k it, I'm not complying with any of that. He's probably jealous OBXD is more popular than his own offering, haha! And jealousy is what makes him poisonous.
I'm sure OBXD is loved in the community more than xhip. Make a poll if you like. I see people raving about OBXD, I don't see them going nuts about xhip.
People just feel more comfortable being silent and complacent. well, I don't and I could care less if you don't like it or don't like me. it's irrelevant. I wish there was more of a OBXD fans speaking up though.
now back to the point. if this guy has zero to contribute to the issue, he should go back to his own threads and engage in other activities. he has nothing to do here anyway, other than running his mouth again and again about how he dislikes things and can't be bothered. who cares? just leave and keep your mouth shut!

I just took it to mean that the code is messy, and that would be expected after passing on to at least 3 different people looking after it. Especially if the original was inexperienced at documenting etc.
I'd guess there are loads of programs that become messy after a while (of "organic" growth) and you become afraid to touch anything for fear of breaking 5 other things.
I didn't think anyone was saying anything bad about obxd itself - just that it might be a "minefield" digging in to the code.
Just sayin...

The one thing which always put me off about xhip was that you have to run your project in 48 kHz to use it. Seriously, no other synth does that. I don't know if it's still the case, but, i won't let a plugin dictate what sample rate i'm using. Regardless of the rights/wrongs of somebody else's view, it doesn't justify your previous expletive-laden outburst, which those of us who want to read this thread to learn about a software synthesizer then have to suffer.
Learn to moderate your language/temper better and people here might take your views more seriously.
FWIW, I prefer OP-X Pro-II as an Oberheim emulation, but this Obxd attempt looks pretty good.

Thus far your points are completely nullified by your brash, insulting and demeaning methods of criticism. Grow up sport.Admirallo wrote:Pfft, no bans ever stopped me from making a point.

I use both but almost never use opx pro II any more due to the annoying and quirky interface with the hidden drop downs and unorthodox parameter adjustments. I don't know what the deal with the envelopes either in the sense that they are definitely not linear and sort of counter intuitive compared to like diva or obxd. I'm sure I'll try to get along with it again at some point but I always go back to OBXD.

Wow, what a flame!
Seriously, I didn't read the whole thread and I didn't look at the code, but I understand aciddose observations about the code.
Maybe it's because I've got a degree in computer science and I write code 40 hours each week for a living.
The "beauty" of the code is something you can't see by just using a software... even a mess of a code can work fine and bug free once all bugs are ironed out. But don't even try making a change on that software because of a change on the requisites.
True story: there's a piece of code that I wrote to check user authorization to access certain resources on the application I develop at work. It works perfectly, but don't even ask me to make a slight change to it (for example adding a new user level): it will take me at least two days of really hard work, while it should be really straightforward. The reason is the client asked for many changes while the feature was being built, so it started in a way and patch after patch it ended in a very different way. That part of the software is spaghetti code, while the remaining parts are rather well structured and easy to modify.
Last week I developed a module to inquiry some data in just two hours because I have been able to clone and refactor a similar functionality which is well structured. Yet, it takes me two days to add a string to support a new user level.
If you were to look at the application from an user point of view, you would say it's great and you wouldn't understand why some "small" changes would take me a lot of time.
A badly structured code is a great source of bugs and it's hard to work. There's a reason while at university you have to study design patterns, too.
That has nothing to do with how great/useful a product is perceived by the user, it's all hidden inside (well... untill you don't experience a bug, which gives you an insight sometimes...). But I understand this is hard to understand if you don't have a background in programming or computer science, this is not common knowledge yet (unfortunately... because this is really important, it's quality and it really pays).

Love OBXD, I like the raw sound. It´s the only "emulation" I use along with U-He, Synapse and XilLs. I don´t know nothing if the VCO code or about programming, but what I know for sure, in very aspect of life is that things are more than the sum of its parts, and the way they are joined usually have a bigfer impact than the former.
